I'm also not sure what bringing down the ANC's website is going to achieve. A large portion of the ANC's supporting masses have probably never even used the internet.

I agree with the sentiments echoed above. Rather than a rather trivial DoS, how about compromising their systems and obtaining embarrassing information, and making that public domain.

Because they're script kiddies and don't know how to do anything else.

Whatever your feelings about the intended recipient, I'm pretty sure no-one here would be amused if their hosting DC or cluster crashed due to this kind of activity.

At the end of the day, if it was your business site, or client's site, crashed and down for any amount of time due to a random attack on your server, or such that your server became unavailable, I'm sure this thread would read very differently, and you'd be on the phone shouting at your ISP and not saying "Bravo" to the ones who are truly responsible.

Let's not encourage or glorify this type of activity

Completely agree Afriman, and I think thats the point most of the people praising these guys are missing.

Most of these sites are hosted on some kind of shared infrastructure at some point so the DDoS attack is impacting more than just the intended recipient.
