Why spend so much money on sending them overseas? Since merit and skill is actually not a requirement for a job anymore they can just print 10 000 degree certificates and give them to 10 000 ANCYL candidates (it is obvious who will be sent) and then the money saved can be used for more parties and expensive cars. And the SA economy will have 10000 more leaches to be employed.

true but private schools and home schooling is the way for that, if you are white dont send your children to government schools.

my kids go to a private christian school 18 children in a class and it goes from std.7 - 10
international accredited learning system, with good moral teachings - soos in die ou dae

It might be worth it. Home schooling is not necessarily a religious mythfest. I don’t know too much about home schooling, but I have heard very favorable reviews about the schooling received by the kids of round-the-world yachtsman (you buy the course). Add this to radio and Internet supplements and they should be excellent. The home-schooling courses are well constructed (years of development) and (I have no experience of this) I hear that the kids are very polished and socially adept and well in advance (academically) of most countries. The social polish probably comes from hob-nobbing with children (and adults) the world over. I don’t know if you can compare this to local home schooling. Rather than inflicting the child with an education of ‘The world according to the parent’, these (round-the-world yachtsman home-schooling courses) are good and cater to several cultures and the kids are well in advance of local curriculums. I think the Australian outback (sheep station courses) are similar.

LMAO, then again how many gardeners are "Directors" of companies in South Africa. Or "own" thousands of Telkom shares.
Except the money to be used will come from me through taxes. So stealing from me to pay for someones "overseas" education is a good thing?
The next point I would like to make out is that the ANC Youth League has no understanding of what our university standards of education or like.
Study accountancy overseas? WTF? The CA(SA) standard is the 3rd BEST in the world.
As far as I know our medical standards aren't bad as well as they are the same as other standards in 1st world countries in Europe.
In order to further improve the research done and the standard of instruction at universities here, the varsities need MONEY. They get this from paying students, now the ANCYL wants to take consumers away from local universities, and hope that they get skills bring em back here and pass em on?
If I went to the US I would probably try to stay there...
Of course the only people who are likely to get these scholarships are previously disadvantaged people...and possibly ANCYL members.

I was home-schooled for the last 7 years of my schooling, and must say i absolutely enjoyed it, well i don't get out that much but i can definitely have a meaningful conversation with an adult, i believe.
There are some great curriculum's out there and other not so great ones, i know with my schooling i just have to do a bridging course then i can get into an international university, which i might do and might not do we will see where life takes me.

the only problem I have with CVO schools is the 'moral ' things they try to implement, a few of the children I have met are still raised in a mindset of 20 years ago and they find it hard to adapt. And I don't see the point of sending a child to a school or college like Crawford/Affies/Grey when they write either the IEB or Governmental exam. Its more a Snobish believe that they are actually better then an average school then anything else.
As for home schooling, well there use to be this argument that children don't develop a lot socially, but that might be a mere generalisation.

my kids have outside interests and play sport via sporting clubs they are not on a government system and are more rounded plus had to learn displine to study on their own

Everything for these students is fully paid for and upon completion they are "supposed" to return to Botswana and work there. Very few of them ever do return and when they do, the majority of graduates are either not able to find work in their chosen field or even find work at all.
Students from Botswana are also known as the worst behaved and most rowdy students at Monash in Australia.
Such an utter waste of money. Rather spend the money improving local universities.
