So Froyo was officially announced, and it sounds rather exciting! Lots of articles here if anyone is interested:

I quite like the functions for updating all your up-datable apps, but my favorite feature must be the syncing feature. Say you are reading an article on your pc, and you have to move off, you click on a button, and it immediately opens up on your phone. Same with Google maps...you can plan your route on the pc, and send it to the phone. Same with apps, you can browse on your pc, and choose it on there and it syncs to your phone.

I am getting a little excited for this....

moving apps to SD without having to root the device is what is making me excited

Much faster browser thanks to V8 Javascript engine, much faster Apps thanks to Dalvik JIT compiler, and full Adobe Flash support are pretty awesome too.

I'm getting very excited about this....checked out all the videos on Android's web site about OS 2.2 last night and it's looking great!!

Plus you can use your phone as a wifi router. Probably not something you'd need everyday, but I can see it coming in very handy in a pinch if you really need to get online and forgot your microUSB cable, or need to get online with more than one PC using your phone.

Trying not to get too excited about 2.2, it will probably be a long wait before the official updates start rolling out.

Got FroYo on my Nexus. Wow. It's blazing fast. memory is much better, and a fair amount of subtle polish

With 2.1 I usually had +- 80M free after a kill all apps and it would go down to +- 27M after a while. With 2.2 I have +-240M after killing all apps and it goes down to +- 150M.

The Gallery has some nice improvements: pinch zoom gesture to peek inside stacks, and photos zoom in to full resolution

All in all the phone is much smoother and more snappy (and it was pretty smooth before). And the browser blazes along.

Heard good things about it. But will only really get excited when it becomes available for my phone (without having to root it)

Now my Spica just needs to get 2.1... Stupid Vodacom and MTN taking three months to test
2.1 on the Spica...

Not like the Milestone had it months ago... Idiots. It would probably be quicker waiting for my
upgrade then getting 2.1 never mind 2.2...

It's about time they added the ability to save email attachments.

I'm not sure if this is related to network policies, but it can be circumvented by sending attachments with a .jpg extension (although you don't necessarily have control over what the sender does!). Either way, this is an ugly workaround that doesn't belong on a "cutting edge" UI.

Okay, the Desire is confirmed for a Froyo update later this year...awesome news! Now knowing Leaf, that might mean if I get my contract in October as intended, it should be ready for my Desire by the time I upgrade again in late 2012:-) Yay!

I personally will either bug Leaf 24/7 for the release, and get them to promise, or just DIY the update. I am almost sure they will not have Froyo ready by the time I get my phone. Sad but true!

I'm thinking about waiting 1-2 months before getting an Android phone. Apparently HTC in general are very slack in upgrading older phones to new firmware, leaving me with a sneaky suspicion it might be a while until we see 2.2 on Desire.

If somebody were to make a new phone and release it with 2.2, however...

I wonder how long it will take after 1000 emails a day :P
