Android Battery Percentage (Advice Needed): SOLVED

Solution:

Contact Xecutronix: [email protected]. (LG Service). Was referred to them directly from LG ZA.

OEM Battery + Courier was R 437.00.

Battery is now back to normal charge and discharge. Battery Health is 100%.

Avoid the Chinese crap below. Don't waste your money.

Problem:

I got a new Chinese battery for my LG G4 (Can't find an original OEM anywhere).

The first time I used it, it only charged to 81%.

The second time I charged it, it is back to charging to 100%.

My problem now is that the percentage falls from 100% to 5% in about 4-5 hours. It will go another 4-5 hours on the last 5%. It already had 3 full charges from empty to full.

This is annoying as I can't estimated how much time I have on the battery relying on the percentage. And also some features on the phone might not work below 5% battery.

How do I get android to display or calibrate the correct percentage/time left on the battery?

The G4 is just horrible with battery since the marshmallow update

Definitely. But my problem is the battery percentage and wrong estimates since I started using the new battery.

100-5% goes quickly, the last 5% last long with normal use. My old battery had a consistent drainage of battery and much better estimates.

It is possible that there is an issue with the battery? Maybe download one of those battery optimization apps?

I don't think so? The Battery last normal hours. So lets say 8 hours. Android just doesn't seem to calibrate it properly and show the wrong estimates. I'll try a battery optimization app.

The battery could be built to lower standards and as such might not supply the necessary current needed for the phone to accurately estimate the remaining current left?

I understand that. Do the batteries have a memory chip or something build in to tell android what to do with the estimates?

Unlike in days gone by with lead acid batteries technology has moved on a bit thankfully.Recall having to fully charge and discharge /top up cells with distilled water, etc ? I do...pain in the ***

Nowadays the batteries in our mob phones, contrary to what most people think and believe, can be partially charged/discharged without any degradation to their capacity and performance. I normally keep my battery between 20-80% capacity and charge it 2-3 times a day to top up...

Interesting info but how does this relate to the issue I have? Whether I charge it 5 times a day the estimates are out. When your battery sits at 60%, mine will sit at 5% but still can go half a day.

Is the third-party battery the same amperage as the OEM one? Discharge rates could be different and your phone is applying the known discharge curve of your tired battery to the new one

Most likely a dud battery or badly designed.
Take it back, get a refund and import something from a reliable source if that wasn't.

I contacted MegaStore. They are more than willing to give me a refund. They test the batteries before they send it out, said she haven't had issues yet. But I would first want to test the battery or something. Otherwise I am back to step one looking for a battery for my phone. Maybe it is the phone and not the battery.
