Android: iPhone capabilities for the masses

The ZATechShow journalists pointed out that despite the fact that South Africa had a high mobile phone penetration rate, that 90% of these phones were not Internet enabled. This currently limits the availability of online content on mobile devices.

Maybe cost actually plays a factor?

It's not the capabilities of an iphone that makes it desirable. Still don't know how people compare everything to the iphone when it has such weak specifications. The only thing that sets the iphone apart is the interface. And android can't do anything about that... The actual phone needs lots of sensors and a multi touch screen. That is the expensive part. Not the firmware.

Not

I'm not sure I agree with the person that says 90% of all mobile handsets are not internet-enabled, when Stafford states that 14% of all Google searches in South Africa are done via the mobile platform.

If we compare that to the amount of searches that are done on Google daily.. it's huge.

The question I ask is how does this happen then when 90% of mobile subscribers are not online.

I believe that 90% of all mobile handset owners don't use the full capability of their internet-enabled handsets. I'm glad Google SA is stepping in to change all that.

Our people are going to need loads of education.. especially late adopters.
