Android Market web store

Is there any difference between this and the android market app?

It's just another way to access the Android Market. Once all the menus actually work, it'll be a helluva lot easier to navigate than the app on your phone, though. Reviews, screenshots, videos, application size etc. are quite a bit easier to check on a 17" PC monitor than on a 4" phone screen.

You can also push installations to your phone from your PC.

I don't remember seeing videos in the android app ever. Cool idea... The "push" works awesome. Don't have to do a single thing on the phone. You'll see its downloading if you look but if you just left it, the app would just "be there" once done.

I love it!

Just clicked on Gun Bros. and voila! it's already installed on my phone.

Thanks Google!

Well, almost. Now you just need to download the 100mb of data files. :p

But yes, the web store is shaping up very, very nicely.

4.3" phone screen thank you! ;-)

But is it super amoled? Lol. So happy the argument is android vs android now instead of "fruit" vs android.

Sent from my Galaxy S running darky's rom sent to me by little green robots from the future.

Super LCD & just as nice as your AMOLED ;)

Think that's still being sorted - the entire left-hand menu just leads to a blank screen for me with Chrome and FF. At least collectively we know it's not a browser issue. :D

Same for me. I just get a blank page when I select something from the left. Could it have something to do with MarketEnabler? Maybe there is a conflict between the market phone app being fooled by MarketEnabler and the web based market detecting that we are from SA...

Something just dawned on me, and I think unfortunately it comes down to MarketEnabler/MarketAccess not doing enough. It also explains sandmanm34's issue reported earlier...

Google are filtering the menus on a location basis. We don't have access to the paid market, hence we aren't seeing the menus populated. However, the search function correlates with whatever your phone reports to Google regarding your service provider. Hence, I can search for and find paid apps. But, when I search for and find "MiGuide", an SA-only television guide, I'm told that it isn't available on my carrier... with Google thinking my carrier is T-Mobile in the US at present.

I'm afraid my conclusion is that the web store will remain largely borked for us until such a time as Google decide to allow the distribution of paid apps... :(

Ok, so I just tried using the webstore again, installed Bubble Buster from the web, saw the icon downloading on my phone. But the app is not installed.

EDIT:

Ok, nevermind - tried it again and then it worked

This would be so sad we going to waiting for another year then

Sent from my HTC Desire using MyBroadband Android App

I'm having 0 luck getting the apps to install on my device. I'm able to browse the categories menus though after faking my country of origin using market enabler but that's about it..

Heeeeeeeeey... I can also browse categories now. Still only for free apps, but I can search for paid.

Dunno what your phone's issue is, dude - mine installs immediately. Rooted Desire running Desire HD ROM > Desire HD. :D

Yes! Now when I click on Categories in the Market, it shows me all the free apps.

Living in hope that Google will show us some love soon wrt paid apps.

interesting that it only picks up my one android device (both running custom roms)

edit - thanks enigma for pointing out miguide

I am getting an error:

There are no android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account.

can it be because i am using a custom ROM?

So I can view all paid and free apps it seems, but can only install free apps.
