The front page of this topic really needs to be updated.
Social Networking: there is now FriendCaster for Tab (Facebook), TweetComb (twitter for honeycomb), Plume, Seesmic for Honeycomb and TweetCaster HD.
Web Browsing: Dolphin Pad, Dual Screen Browser and Maxthon.
Media Player: Dice Player
Network: PdaNet Tablet (allows sharing your Android phones internet connection via Bluetooth).
Utility: Tablet Keyboard.

Now for this weeks gem TexTab
If you on a WiFi only device like me and have an Android phone, you can connect your tablet to your phone via Bluetooth to send SMS's or MMS using this cool App. You have to install it on both the phone and the tablet to enable pairing and off you go, sending SMS's like a pro, esp if you have a Keyboard Dock like ASUS Eee Pad. If you have a 3G modem on your tablet or set up a USB 3G dongle you can use this app to send SMS's with that as well. For R15 you get the pro version but I only played with the free and find it more than perfect for my use.

I am very new to Android. Wonder If you guys can help me.

Is there an app that will allow me to play multimedia files (.avi .mkv etc) directly from Network shares? The file managers I use currently tries to download the entire file to the device before playing it. (I have a media player attached to my TV sharing my drive wirelessly on the network).

What reader software would you guys recommend for pdf files (mostly magazines and ebooks)? I tried adobe but it is lagy when you zoom in and out of pdf files. I know of Calibre, would it be a better option to convert pdf files to another format? What format and which reader?

You ware welcome to use streaming options from DLNA If you have Windows, Windows Media Player allows you to share your media on your network and the ASUS Eee Pad(I guess this is what you have) MyLan app can see and play the media or you can use streaming applications like https://market.android.com/details?id=com.vlcdirect.vlcdirect. There are many on the market, I went for the 1st option.

Normally converting to ePUB allows you to read on most applications like MyLibrary that is included to even iPad's. I use this option as I prefer to keep my life organized and have everything under one roof/format. You could always install https://market.android.com/details?id=udk.android.reader and not convert at all.

Weekly Application Round-up

DSLR Controller (BETA)
If you own a Canon Camera and have USB on your tablet, there is now an DSLR controller on the market mostly Aimed for Canon EOS but I found it to be working on my 450D. It is still in BETA even if its paid for and kinda pricy but personally think its worth it, esp if you combine it with Tasker

Tab Explorer
Another file/application/image browser for Honeycomb, personally I prefer File Manager HD, but this one have some options like switching to image browser with thumbnail + preview that makes it worth a look.

Android App for this week:

TweetCaster HD
The best Twitter client now for tablets. Its curently in Beta and free but works 100%, and I dont know how long it will stay free.
Free https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handmark.tweetcaster.tablet

Box
http://box.net/ is a similar service to Dropbox with clients for mobiles and PC's but with an added difference in that it targets corporate markets with enhanced sharing and task management as well as security. For personal use they start off with 5Gig space for free and pricing is split between business and personal use. I also find the mobile clients better thought out.

Is it possible to get RockPlayer Lite full screen without the bar at the bottom?

Don't know if I missed it, but is there a tablet compatible app for monitoring bandwidth (3G) - 3G Watchdog doesn't seem to work.

Weekly update.

Haven't covered Games in a long time, so maybe should post some today

Uno
1st up, from Gameloft the 1st game for Asus. Ok, not the type I was hoping to grace our tablets but still a great game with excellent graphics for a card game. Here is hoping this is a sign of things to come, like Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD
Paid https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gameloft.android.GloftUNOG

Myth Defense
Great tower defense game and a must if you like this type of games. It doesn't have great animation like Fieldrunners HD or say Tower raiders Free/Paid but the game play and upgrades makes it a winner as it has a longer lifespan. Also it has a Honeycomb optimized UI vs the phone one, which makes it worth a mention.

Switch
Small free game with FX that looks crisp and clean. Looks very easy as you race and change between 4 lanes to miss obstacles but it is very hard to master. Similar to Racing Moto
Free https://market.android.com/details?id=com.playboxgames.pbswitch

Oh and dont forget Google Reader
It is now updated with a honeycomb optimized UI as well
