Good day.

I need some help please.

I am looking for suggestions for an android tv box that plays h265 video files no problem (no lag etc) and which supports hardware decoding.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Not sure. I think it depends on model. I have the 103. That came without HDD. I installed 275 SSD.
Call Syntech. Speak to Kobus.
 
You want the XIAOMI Mi Box. It does 4K 60FPS 10 bit no problem, it has support for HDR and it runs Android TV 6.0, whereas almost all of these other Android boxes run normal Android made for phones/tablets with a modified launcher for TV use.

Android TV is made for big screen use, not modified by 3rd parties.

This is on the NVIDIA Shield but it looks exactly the same on the Mi Box, just for you to see how nice real Android TV looks:

I don't have one myself no but if you go over to The Droid TV thread there was one guy asking a week ago about buying one locally online from here and another user saying he bought one from them in store.

Don't be scared to buy from Geekbuying. I have spend thousands with them and if you have the option for TNT Couriers, your item arrives within 7 working days. Take the shipping insurance option for peace of mind. For the price I would definitely go for the XIAOMI Mi Box.
 
Also if you like Netflix the Mi Box will do 4K Netflix with the 5.1 surround track, I don't know of a single other "China" Android box that can do that, most of them are limted to 480P, not even 1080P.
