Mary Meeker’s 2016 Internet Trends report has been released, which shows that Google’s Android is far ahead of Apple’s iOS when it comes to smartphone shipments.

These articles are pointless as you can clearly see that there is room for both in this world, and user statistics are influenced by many other factors than just the software itself.

Each OS have their strengths and weaknesses, and unless one can claim to be perfect, it never truly will be superior.

The article simply stated the numbers. It made no judgements as far as I could see. Yet you seem to think you need to defend something, which is not necessary at all.

These numbers are extremely interesting for a number of reasons. Developers need to take this into account when trying to enter the market, or when targeting a certain segment of the market. I remember a time when Blackberry and Apple ruled the smartphone landscape, and it was not yet obvious at all whether Android would achieve any success in the market. I also rememer a time when only privilaged people were able to afford a smartphone. These statistics tell the story of the slow but steady progress we've made since then.

So posting "pointless article!" seems kind of pointless, to be honest.
