Android will dominate for the next 5 years

Well but more powerful components generation on generation use less battery - Apple 32nm iPad2's have much better battery life than the original models. Quad-core SOC's like the SGS3 have tremendous power-saving capabilities vs the 1ghz snapdragons of a few years back, for instance. I don't think battery life is at all suffering versus previous generations - unless you're comparing them with a Nokia 2210.

In closing from my side on this point; I believe the industry has relegated it self to the old game of spec vs spec... Which wasn't the case when the iPhone launched I.e. catalyst moment. I.e. More about the experience than spec.

Spec is something which Apple has largely ignored; the fact that they seem to be moving closer towards spec for no good or substantial reason is itself enough proof to me that we're back in a rut.

The big difference between the two is and always will be form vs function.

Apple products and users place form over function, every time. If something doesn't look pretty or works in a user friendly matter Apple will exclude it and their users love them for it.
Android products focus on function and make form something to think about later and you know what their users love them for it. Add everyting including the kitchen sink, and worry about making it look nice or smooth on another day.

I'll even word it slightly different: I value experience over spec (experience includes more than just design, simplicity, easy of use for 1st timers, intuitive use, ...)

For this reason most of the stuff I love is from companies like Apple, Bowers and Wilkins, Twiice, ...
