My company does development for a number of corporates clients; personally that would have been my choice. To be clear I think the iPad 2 considering a lower price is still the better deal.

Talking about expectation...I really, really hope that the spate of Android tablets going to be released this year lives up to (my) expectations, and that they finally do offer serious competition. I just want to use one platform: Android.
Maybe it will be cool if Linux could be run on one of those tablets. I hear that Ubuntu with its new Heads-Up Display (touch interface optimised) is making big waves.

I hope Windows Mobile gains popularity and BB survives. I am an Android fan but would hate to see only 2 platforms in use.

I could care less if BB survives, to be honest they have been under total mismanagement for years now and still have no clear evidence that they can create a convincing current gen phone platform. They would be far better off spinning their BBM service as a third party software product to Android or Apple. Just like HP mangled WebOS.
Agreed BB is dead in the water (giving away BBM will be the final nail in the coffin if it happens)
Sad though as that significantly reduces competition, we unfortunately also lost WebOS (and I had high hopes for that one, considering how good the Treo's were in their heydays) -- the point is we don't want a 2 horse race; as that unfortunately is what we've had for the last period -- and it's very apparent IMO that some level of complacency is already settling in.
In the Android world, everyone but Samsung is a dismal failure (financial performance) -- so without additional players this is going to continue being only a Samsung vs Apple race; and they appear to be getting close to settling the legal crap I.e. IMO further indication of complacency settling in
I.e. to quote Steve Jobs: "We have to let go of this notion that for Apple to win, Microsoft has to lose. We have to embrace a notion that for Apple to win, Apple has to do a really good job." -- the same could be said for Samsung... Oh and btw Tim Cook is not Steve; I sadly think he tends more towards complacency more so than Steve did.
Basically Apple is missing a vital element i.e. a catalyst
Samsung's catalyst in contrast is driven on by great competition -- clearly the lack luster S3 and "monster" sized phones shows they need more.

I can't really agree that Apple has shown any signs of complacency. The iPad has gone through three successive and equally impressive upgrades. Iphone4 has been following the same tick-tock upgrade trajectory as the original iPhone 2g/3g/3gs iteration - the only evidence of stagnation there will be if iPhone5 adds nothing significantly new ito design and screen.
Competition between Android vendors is very strong. HTC One X is a much nicer phone than the SGS3 for instance, in my view. So there's room for HTC to recapture decent market space. It would be great if there was another option but there's no way that BB is it - Microsoft certainly has opportunity to create something special with WP - it's still a very new platform. Think about where Android was after 1 1/2 years - by comparison WP is beautifully polished.

I am also drawn towards the One X over the S3, and I say that being in love with my current S2...
What makes you favour the One X?
Out the top of my head, I favour it because: already available, equally powerful (give or take), better design. It loses out on the removable battery and memory card front, though I don't think the lack of removable card is a biggie for me (who really does that, we have cloud integration now). Perhaps its just that the S3 is underwhelming after all that expectation. If it had 2GB of RAM, that would've been awesome.
Like the iPad2 &iPhone 4, I think the S2 would be the better deal, if of course they continue to manufacturer it and now sell it at a reduced priced like the latter.
During a time of tough competition with almost no perceived room to maneuver or best one's competition, they launched the original iPhone, MacBook Air and iPad.
Post this we only seen marginal upgrades I.e. only the next logical steps have been taken... hence IMO there is evidence of complacency.

Actually, you are all wrong. WP7 will have 95% of the smartphone market by years-end.
Dude if that happens I will fly you out to PE and stick you to whatever you wanna eat. As I would be having a field day.
Bought Microsoft options, but I am banking on 2015 to get some return on my investment, so yeah lets see
Side note: I am soooo glad I did not go with Nokia as I originally planed as I would be swearing right about now.

If they achieve anything close to that type of impact, it can only be good for the market and consumers.

The way I look at it: just imagine what the 2 top manufacturers will do with real and tougher competition -- gotta be some magic there, more so then just the boring display, processor, ram, and gpu upgrades...
