And the rich black boys? Are they included as well?
I think any solution is better than no solution...
For too long we were dependant and bound to one company.
The time is right to break out and help our country develop.
I think we all know what google does. We like it too. I also have an association with google that's commercial, and private in nature too

Your marketing speak is starting to get tiresome though.
Stunning comment coming from a rich white boy...
I've been involved with community networks in .za for near 5 years now, and for 8 years before that, back when Fidonet was the in thing. Strangely, none of them required PTY Ltd.'s to operate. I'm personally interested in anything that creates more bandwidth and Internet access in this country. I just don't think you're going to be it.
By the way, nice site design you stole from
http://gagravarr.org/computing/hauppauge-media-mvp.shtml there.

The_Librarian,
One of the few positive comments - where you've been all this time...?
Sure, the rich black boys going to dislike that as well...
It is sad to see most deciding to attack, instead of looking to find a way to add value and participate to what we are doing. The comments I received so far presented their posters in extremely bad light.
If I have to judge by those comments, the average here is quite gray, I must say
TheRoDent,
I think that you (like many others) misunderstood my original post. I never intended to create such misunderstanding though.
The narrow view on the word "community" has probably made you think (like others) that we intend of building community network - build by the community, owned by the community, enjoyed by the community for a hand clap and a hug.
Not so - I've never misrepresented our venture. From the first post, I made this clear - we are facilitating the building of Wi-Fi Communities, where people can enjoy increased more efficient level of electronic communication.
Perhaps you all are unhappy by the different (to what others have done in similar circumstances) approach that we have decided to take in building this network?
Let me reiterate what makes us different:
(1) we use innovative means of funding this whole mesh, the nodes are handed (even installed by us) to the community members for no consideration at all, and only requiring the members to shell-out small (comparatively) amount if they reside at the extreme boundaries of the mesh and it is their decision to extend the range and coverage (not planned by us)
(2) we offer free use of the wifi community mesh for as long as the traffic stays within the mesh and it does not cost us any money i.e. any P2P traffic and future VoIP traffic that does not break-out.
(3) at commencement, we are going to introduce the first of the many to come commercial services (Internet Access) to the newly build wifi communities at extremely low price (as compared to any comparable service any existing ISP in SA is currently offering) - is that bad thing, I thought everyone was looking for a cheap Internet Access?
(4) we remove the metering of the bandwidth - a practice that has been accepted as a rule among the incumbent ISPs - is that bad thing as well - I thought that everyone hated the metering and the only reason did not buy un-metered access was the price the ISPs were charging for it.
(5) we highlight the unique bandwidth capacity of our meshes to illustrate what kind of services one could expect to be provided to the wifi communities - again, we are doing it differently - and the only reason for doing this way is to reduce the cost to the end user - what was everyone's reaction - crying out loud that we are going to make a lot of money out of it! If we manage to get a good service to satisfy the market demand – surely, we will.
To the WUG members and like -
Your assumption that the 2.4-2.5 GHz band is reserved exclusively for ISM is wrong.
You assumption that commercial-free use of telecommunication equipment in the above band equals ISM is wrong as well.
ICASA defines precisely what ISM is not (in a lesser detail they define what it is) - go and familiarise yourselves with that definition.
You guys are very good in misreading what I write - I’ve never said that there is no ISM - I did write that there is no band in SA that is designated as ISM. ISM is a description of certain apparatus, and in the ICASA definition of the term, they specifically exclude any telecommunication equipment i.e. Wi-Fi from it. The US's FCC does not. But that is their problem, not ours. And if you keep on reading US material, you are going to be further mislead.
I really do not understand you personal attacks, you vicious attacks on my experience in this field and the myriad of loose statements that if I don't do this the way you guys are doing it, I surely don't know what I am doing.
I never intended to bring this up, but I have been doing radio telecommunications before some of you have been even born. Not so long time ago, I've conceptualised, build and launched a massive ISP, which for a period of time was rated the largest among its peers.
And I've always have done this
differently .
You see, the reason I am doing this differently is that it cannot be done the way you all (in the industry) have been trying to do. But the way I am going to, is quite possible - not without challenges – both commercial and technical, but possible.
And here is where I need your collective advises and help.
But if you don’t feel like participating positively, then never mind...
