"Annoying" Samsung copied iPhone - Apple exec

iPhone 13 Pro Max currently destroying most smartphones with battery life anyways.

It has taken them a long time though to achieve though. They never really featured much in the battery tests against other phones.

Oddly, no one used to care about better life - until they became number 1.

Now all we hear is about the amazing battery life...

Everyone copies Apple. Half the stuff out there looks like Apple products. But I'de rate Huawei higher than Samsung - I mean they released something that looks like a Macbook and called it a Matebook lol.

Those who lead will be copied, its the nature of humans to do that. Apple must just carry on spinning out theymasterful stuff they do. Nothing can touch it anyway. I bought a few things at an Apple Store in the country i'm in currently. Working perfectly, designed perfectly...just perfect.
I think you're misunderstanding what they copy though

Other companies are copying their business models and ideas to create even more margin. They don't copy their 'technology' at all.

I mean you have to remember that most new technology trickles to iPhone in a few years, from 3G, 4G, 5G, water resistance, OLED screens, Fast Charging, Wireless Charging, optical zooms, optical imsge stabilization, dual lens, phase detection autofocus, laser autofocus, burst mode photography, macro lens, wide angle lens, LED camera flash, stereo speakers, video recoding (HD, Full HD & 4K)....

... And softwares was copy & paste, Always On, widgets, push notifications, predictive text, gesture typing, custom wallpapers, live wall paper, multitasking, lift to wake...

I think if you took a step back and remove the apple stem in your eyes, you may understand a lot more.

Apple are run by accountants and marketers - and you've been bit more than anyone I've known :(

Apple shills, we are NOT saying that Apple is evol, nor that their products are crap.
We are merely saying that Apple cannot push their narrative that they were the original inventors/creators of everything they have ever produced.
That is trying to rewrite history.
Apple has copied LOADS of stuffs. It's just that they are masters at refining and sexifying.
Hat-tip and all that.

Even you must admit that apple redefined the smart with the iPhone. Every smartphone maker pivoted in the same direction as Apple at that point. They copy them less these days but iPhone redefined the smartphone

I hear you to some extent .

But how many different ways can you make a phone ?
They're all rectangle ? They're all touch ?

How many ways can you make a TV? They're all 16:9 ratio?
Or a speaker driver ? They're all round?

This is nothing new, it's an ongoing feud between Samsung and Apple, for YEARS...

At the time, back in 2009, you were the quite the scht if you had a Samsung Star, an iPhone wannabe... If you had a iPhone back in 2009, you were considered the person who could afford an *iPhone*, and upper class...
Then, came the BlackBerry craze in 2010's...
Nothing could beat THE BlackBerry with it's cheap internet and messaging platform.
Ah man... Those were the days.

Let's see how we get on with this ongoing feud of "poor design" copy ...
Looking at who first implemented the fingerprint stuff, it seems like Apple was first at it, back in 2013. Samsung followed suit a year later with the Note 4, and S5.

While Apple's people claim bad copy or poor copy, there's no patents infringed, because the shape of the scanner is different, it still does the same job.

If Samsung actually copied the fp scanner to a round one instead of a bar like it is, then, ja, sure, you are possibly infringing the "patent" or whatever that is.
Otherwise, Apple, stay out. These days, everything is hot garbage from Apple. Except for their "revolutionary" M1 ARM architecture. Still not cheap.

by this guy's logic aren't apple copying Samsung from 2015

glass body, water protection, faster charging, wireless charging, bigger screens, display innovations, soon in-display finger scanner, releasing multiple models, etc...(granted apple did copy all the good bits of Samsung and Samsung all the bad bits of apple the past few years)

I would look at Hauwei first, everything from their GUI down to hardware design and product names.
MacBook-Matebook, the padding on their tablets os is very similar to ipados. their charging cable and earphones are apple clones and mostly only available in white, they even copied the bad design of the lightning cable that's the cause of their high failure rates.

They did? My 6680 from 2004 is a full smartphone. It's just not touch screen. But then Apple also wasn't first when it came to touchscreen. Look, nobody is saying that Apple isn't good at what they make but they aren't innovators and you can often find something else much better. What Apple is good at is marketing and waiting for technology and the market to mature enough. The issue here is thinking that someone was first with everything rather than everyone copying bits and pieces from multiple other sources. Technology isn't a vacuum.

I had both of those phones when they came out. The Nexus 4 was alright at the time for the pure Android experience, but the Bluetooth kept dropping, the camera was pretty hit and miss and the battery life was probably the worst of any phone I had. I got rid of it after about 3 months iirc.

The iPhone 6 was a far more polished affair and I guess this typifies the argument. Android more concerned with getting new features out as fast as possible while Apple just plugged away and were more concerned with getting everything functional and working properly.

Strange then if it sucked that badly that the Verge gave it 8.3 out of 10 https://www.theverge.com/2012/11/2/3589280/google-nexus-4-review.

Lol. You try sooooo hard. But take the blinkers off for a second lad. You don’t have to have a team and defend them to the death regardless.

I had plenty of Android phones in the early days and many were all pretty poor and had a shed load of teething problems.

Look, I can Google and get the answer I want as well.

The point I was making is that Apple generally didn’t have the same issues that Androids did because they made sure they would work properly. Even if it took 4 years as per the example.

FYI, I loved the Nexus 5. That was far more polished than the 4. Still had to replace the kernal though because the battery drained pretty quickly on that as well. Go check xda, I’m sure they still have the old threads of people discussing the many issues.

Pretty weird that you had all those issues and Android supposedly had all those issues. Been using Android since 2012 and it's been rock solid. Sounds like Mac users talking about BSOD's like it still happens regularly on Windows when in reality it doesn't.

Just imagine the car makers, arguing among each other on who copied the shape of the wheel from who.

My father bought a square watch in the 80's. Apple probably designed their watch in the 70's.

The shape of the iPhone wasn't really innovation or a huge discovery. It was rather natural progression and just the logical next step. Same with the watches.
What shape phone/watch will stop all this bitching from the Apple exec's/fans.

First I say the Nexus 4 was alright and you change that to I said it “sucks badly”, then I say I had a couple of issues with the Nexus 4 and it wasn’t very polished, and you change it to I “supposedly had all these issues”.

I really don’t see the point of having a discussion with you if you are always going to turn it into a playground argument.

Good grief. Okay, so please tell me why if I’ve had more Android phones than iPhones I prefer to use an iPhone now?

It’s a phone for gawds sake and I’m telling it like I see it and experience it. Grow up ffs.

Yeah well I still often miss the buttons. You could feel type on a good button phone.
And it's "so good" that people are often slaves to their phones these days. More FOMO and commoditisation of end users, often for political ends and often for deleterious motivations.

In any case. There's only so many ways that you can make a touch screen phone that makes sense. Specifically with regards to the basic physical format of such a device... there is only one way.
