Another Accident Thread

But the thing is why do people get worked up for losing a little space? it's not like they made you drive so much slower to re establish the gap, i mean 2-3 seconds of the peddle will give you that space again.

i like to think I'm quite courteous on the road, for example if I'm in the right lane and i can see a truck driving at 30km an hour and a driver is going To get stuck, i just ease off and give the other driver the gap to move over. why do people make this such an issue i will never know

Happens all he time these days, I just keep going, if they hit me it will most likely be from behind, which will be in my favour... once in front of them I return the courtesy with a zap.

Well here is what happened.

Driving around 40-60 kmph and i need to get into the right hand lane. I indicate my intention but nobody allows me to get to the right lane (needed to take a right turn at a robot). So i see a gap of about 15m and speed up to get into it. I get into it fairly comfortably but the driven behind me is not impressed and starts hooting at me. I then notice that the traffic in front of me came to a dead stop so i put on my breaks and stop 1.5m behind the stopped car (my car did not even skid).
Next thing there is a thud and the car behind me that was hooting at me rammed up my ass. Now I see this as partly my fault as I turned right but there was plenty of time to stop if the car behind me was watching what was going on in front of me instead of hooting and performing and slowed down to let me in when he saw my intention instead of speeding up to spite me (Elantra vs a Tata). For interest sakes there was at least 5 seconds of hooting and time to react to see the cars in front of us had stopped.

Now my question is we are both fully insured. Their is literally no damage to my car, 2 small scratches while his car got about 30cm shorter.
Im not gonna claim from my insurance as you cant even notice anything and not worth the excess. Will his insurance try claim from mine and if they do will i have to pay anything or is that covered by third party?

Why not just go straight or turn left and look for another place to turn around at and come back?

Like those guys who nearly miss and offramp and zoom across 4 lanes or try to reverse at the side. Just drive the the next interchange and come back... South Africans seem to be idiots.

As there was a big enough gap and we were going at a slow speed I took it. If he was not so busy hooting and being a ass trying to cut me off he would have noticed the car in front of me had come to a stop. This was by Somerset Mall coming from Strand on the 23rd December I think. Like I state dhe was hooting for at least 5 seconds before the accident.

I hate it when leaving a bit of a gap for security sake and then this guy wizzing past the traffic tries to push in front after I have been standing in traffic for 20 minutes waiting my turn. There have been a few times I can promise that I just felt like flooring it but then decide, heck, it ain't worth it.

Well - if its one of those that jump long queues right at the front by pushing in - then I hope the worst for him.

I would also say he was behind you, his fault, and he saw what you were doing and should have stopped in time, and kept his distance!

It's his fault. He was playing with his hooter instead of paying attention to the traffic around him.

I would suggest that you get your car looked at. There may be ''unseen'' damage that needs repairing....
