Not sure were they got my details, Virus scans are clean, spyware scans are clean. I only use mods from Curse gaming, and then only the big name ones recommended by others My password was also 10 Chars and alpha numeric

I have of course deleted all the interface, cache, and WTF data, and am running a repair now to see if any other files might of been comprimised.

The biggest pain is when I saw the emails about my account password being changed, I contacted support right away and asked them to lock the account (about 2 hours after it happened though). I got home and checked and I had been banned on the forums as well for posting (not that I'm bothered with that, because I am never on the wow Forums)

I did lie though, there is one bigger pain... Not only did they hack the account, but they also deleted my Level 80's, With about 4.6k gold on my main. They were nice enough to leave me with a L6 priest I haven't played in about 2 years though.

I hope they rot in hell

check your work machine as well, what happened to our one player is he had a keylogger on his work pc, got hacked, suspected his home machine cleaned it went moggy with security only to get hacked again. Turns out the trojan was at work

you people are waay to carless lol. Stop fking going to dodgey websites, update your bluddie flash players, and just be carefull. In 4 years i have not had 1 issue with my account:)

I dont have WoW installed at work. On board graphics card wont run it :(,

I do dual boot my machine between Win 7 and Win XP though. I haven't been on the win XP system in a while, I think I should scan that as well, since WoW is installed on there.

I installed Mcafee's full version last night and ran a scan, Nothing on the Win 7 machine :(

Account Hacked

My account got hacked aswell about 3 weeks ago luckly got all my stuff back I dont type in my password in WOW anymore but copy and paste from a Word document. The guy who stole my account was some Asian guy who could speak Engish great fun that was.

I was waiting for that and kiss my rear end.

I've been playing WoW since release and was in BETA before then, I've been playing online since NWN-AOL in 1995 and I have never had an account hacked (which totals about 22 online MMO's), I am paranoid about security and run 2 software firewalls and an IP-COP machine.

I actually hope your account gets hacked now so I can laugh my ass off at you.

EDIT: Also note I have never wished that on anyone before, but good luck to you.

For the others who actually have usefull comments?

Support suspects it was through mod (Not sure how because my firewalls wont allow any outgoing traffic unless I approve it). All mine are installed from curse. I did have a glitch with Curse 2 weeks ago, but never thought to change my password (so for that I will admit I am to blame)

They also had multiple attempts to log on to my account via the account management sections over the last few days, so could of been a brute force hack, but my passwords are secure enough that it would of taken too long and the support specialist doubts it. Unless they had partial parts of it already?

All my Macro's I have written myself?

Lets use intelligence shall we, Addons do not run in memory on login, nor do addons run in TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident memory), the normal culprits for viral infections. So addons are not to blame, i use all of those addons and ten times more, and no issues.

Nice assumptions your making.. I've been playing long enough that I dont buy gold, I'm an old school roleplayer and hate all the leet speech wannabes who buy gold.

i will assume, because the only people i know that have had there accounts hacked, go to dodgy websites, and im not talking about gold retailing, porn, warez, etc.. and dont tell me you have not gone to a porn site. Bull****.

I've used plenty of dodgy sites but my account has never been lost in over 3 years.

Make sure your account name is always on the launch screen, there is an option to save it. This way they can't get your account via a keylogger. It's not that hard tbh :o

Yeah pit's you see there is a difference, when there is a huge massive screen saying "ENTER DETAILS HERE", some peopel dont see it as dodge:P

and no im not saying you did it Kal, but anyways, you just gonna have to wait for blizz.

Your more than welcome to come over and search my entire PC that I play WoW on at home. Its only used to play WoW and as a media center for streaming to the Xbox. I have friends who download enough porn that I wouldn't have to go to a site for 6 months watching what they have brought over  , Plus my wife and I are trying to have kids after we lost our baby in Jan... so she doesn't give me enough chance to look at porn

PitBull, Its been turned on since day one :) I haven't done the copy and paste thing before because I always believed having the password saved somewhere was just as bad. I do have the G15 so might put the password in a macro there, though not sure about that either. I'm a Systems admin at work so I really am paranoid about secruity. Since I have installed Win 7 on my home machine, I can count the website site have been to, on one hand. All the scans I did have been clear as well. One file was found as suspect, but its my remote admin program used to log in to my works server from home

I usually set my browser to delete all history after each restart, but haven't with Win 7, so you can see exactly what my web history looks like

No, But I do use Curse gaming which does run in memory and is on before login
