Another good tip is create a hotmail address specifically for your wow account, one that you never need to log into unless transferring or changing account stuff, I think once they got your email logic your pretty much in for the long haul of account recovery.

I use Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall in Advanced mode. It lets you set up ip address / port combinations for allow/deny. So even if the curse client (which I don't use) or an addon something like that tried to connect to a site in the background, I would get notification of that from the firewall. It's something I measure all firewalls by. "Can I put it in advanced mode?" I basically then set up the application (wow.exe in the case) to access only the ip and port that it needs access to.
 
use pc cillin trend mirco,fully updated dont even try avg or norton it is a virus on its own(this inculde kapersky,bit defender),there firewalls is crap and useless. The next thing i do is i run a server OS,because of extra security,i run server 2008 atm.i never been hacked and i got 2 accounts so ya.
 
I make sure my pc can't even make a poop if it could :) with out me knowing going trough a security server I setted up :D
I won't be able to live if my pc was able to do things with out me agreeing to it O_O!

i apologize for my comment now can everyone stop QQing, even thou it wasnt directed at the guy, it was a t-shirt i saw once at monte casino.

Anyways, i did some investigation last night and the only way you could have gotten your account hacked are the following possibilities.

-> Flash (which you said wasnt running)
-> Trojan (which you said the scanners never picked up, thou could be new)
-> Phishing ?
-> Keylogger
-> Someone else knows your username / password and was careless?
-> Curse client (i doubt , as i said i use it and i know alot of other people that do aswell, and they havnt had issues)
-> You where drunk and u did it yourself? :P

Unfortunately it kinda has to be one of those, or you recently installed some software onto windows besides the curse client and it had a nice pay load waiting, but then we go to the key logger again.

Suggestion? .. Get rid of windows 7, if you are running the RC leaked version there is a confirmed trojan in it. We are plat partners with MS and they told us also that its a dodgy copy floating around the net.

Another option is to get the blizz authenicator for the iphone if you have one, or the key token.

I dont believe copy and pasting items to a clipboard and pasting them into the textbox will help at all. It is so easy just to memcpy the clipboard contents, also if this trojan is a wow trojan in particular it could be scanning text files for random stuff.

Either way take it or leave it, *shrugs*.

t-shirt or not im guessing you are the guy who tries to make jokes that never fit the situation and nobody laughs at anyways. next time try to use your brain - however limited it might be.

Kal I read that the latest version of Win 7 had a embedded virus/trojan. So you might wanna look into that. Unfortunatly atm if you wanna be totally sure about getting rid of it, you gonna have to format and reinstall. Just do a hash check to be totally sure that your win 7 hasnt been messed with. Unfortunatly this is the best option then load your AV and zonealarm and do constant scans with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I personally like wowmatrix to update my addons, and I dont use any that are new and look suspect.
I personally check the addon for any .exe .bat files etc, before installing them. As above try keeping your password on a txt file so you can just copy and paste it in.

No I was running Zone Alarm SS for a long time and never had any problems. My latency was average for SA, 400-600ms to US servers. Whats nice about ZoneAlarm you can see how many threats its blocked and it constantly pop-ups asking you to allow or disallow certain connections. Irritating at first but it needs to learn you specific setup. Once all setup you can just set it on game mode :) awesome program

+100 :D It takes a few hours to learn whats what and how do configure it, but then its powerful
