Hi there, quick question - I've been without ADSL for the last 12 months, but up and running again on a 4Mb line. I'm a bit out of touch with the products available these days.

I need about 50Gb a month, not too concerned about cost, but very concerned about performance. Mostly surfing/emails/you tube (without stuttering...) and some downloads.

I would imagine a capped/unshaped account is best? Or maybe a premium Uncapped account - I don't necessarily want the uncapped product everybody is using and complaining about at the moment ala the IS product.

Any suggestions or advice appreciated, thanks.

MWeb. Because knowing a 4mb user you will go over the 50Gb mark and will not need to worry about being throttled.

Thanks guys, going to try Mweb. I heard their admin is a PITA though. I'm very impressed with Afrihost's interface.

Also considering OpenWeb's Gold account - seems to be getting rave reviews.

I'm refining my need with the extra inputs I receive here. What type of product gives you good download speeds at night (ok if torrents/usenet shaped during day), but also very fast, responsive browsing during the day?

Just watch out. If you don't like IS, Openweb uses them almost exclusively lately. If you go with them, make sure to tell them you don't want an account on the IS backbone.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. Their website says SAT3/Seacom backbone.

WebAfrica.

I've been literally through them all and for me WebAfrica is the best. Keep in mind I'm also in Western Cape.

Currently running a 50gb capped account and I'm very happy. Was on their uncapped account and never ever had issues. I was the same as you, didn't want to download the internet, so their uncapped product suited me fine.
