Another car advice thread

Tell me what you think of Honda Brio after you test drive it. My friend he just bought peugeot 107 nice little car don't know what say about it. He bought it cheap R60.000 since you got a budget of R100.000 you can take R15.000 to fix everything that need to be fixed and be left with a bit of change. When you talk about Toyota Aygo I'm sure you talking about the first generation same Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107

I think that admin fee is a big ripoff, i've see worse, an admin fee of R6000. The licence fees are fair but the admin fee can be negotiated as it is not supposed to be there to start with. I just looked at an old offer to purchase that I once signed and I was actually quoted delivery fees although I went there to collect the car, all hidden conveniently under admin fees.

Yea my first thought was. Why is there an admin fee?

Salesperson is doing what they are Paid to do and will still make commission on sale. This is such B.S

The law has to change. I can understand being charged for licence plate & registration but not an admin fee.

I get the feeling that I would have better luck haggling if I was financing the vehicle instead of paying cash.

Ffs.

No man, whatever you are going to save on by haggling you are going to pay double in interest if you are financing, don't let this one bring you down, keep on looking you will find your deal.

Lol no don't get me wrong, I am glad I can buy it cash. Better to just pay it and win on interest. Gonna check out the Suzuki Alto today.

Did you try I20 or I30 yet ? Should fit nicely in the budget and has everything you need.

• Safety (at least two airbags and ABS) Standard
• Good fuel efficiency. The 1.6 can get thirsty, but I have a heavy foot. I avg 7.6L/100km on my 1.6
• Reasonable service and repair costs. R1650 for a full service, R3500 for clutch, R2600 for front disc and pads. That was my cost for at my last service for i20 1.6 .
• Reasonable insurance premiums. I pay R489 for comprehensive insurance. But this might change based on your age etc.
• Electric windows would be nice. Has electric windows front and back as standard. Eletric mirrors also.

Dude rather go Suzuki Celerio you will get one with very low mileage I saw one on cars.coza for like R90.000 with 17000km. If you want a car with low mileage go for Honda Brio or Suzuki Celerio. Suzuki Celerio you can even get last year model

Thanks for all the advice so far. Any thoughts on maintenance plan vs extended warranty? Or should one have both?

I took out a extended warranty for the dealership where I bought my car. So far so good, have a made the choice.

The policy even pays for some wear and tear parts like the clutch. Which needed replacement on the last service.

Cost me R245 a month, valid until the car is 10 years old or 300k km.
