Another fun filled station wagon thread

The correct name is "Estate Car", (Station Wagon is Americanise). If you can't load two bales of hay in it, then it is not an Estate Car.

The Mazda theory of station wagons (sporty they may be) is very similar to the Black-A-traffic theory which states that when you encounter two black Audis in traffic with one being an A4 station wagon and the other an A3 Sportzack then the A3 will look more station wagon like than the A4 station wagon. as illustrated here : http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/170313-A3-5-door-VS-A4-Avant

So based on both the Mazda and Black-A-traffic theorems we can conclude the A3 Sporthack is a station wagon and the Corsa C is not.

A3 has a little baby window, the A4 has a bigger window. It's all in the glass.

If the A3 Sportwack looks more stationwagon-ish than the A4 avant and Etude sportswagon then, based on the obvious, it should be called a station wagon.

You can call a rock a sport stone, but the bottom line is that it looks like a rock so therefore we can call it a rock.

Nothing to do with looks, all about maximising cargo space. Most people with good visual perception can tell the difference when styles from station wagons are repeated in 5-door hatches, etc.

I think we need to setup a poll and see what the average man in the street says on a "Station wagon yes/no" vote.

More mathematical proof that the A3 Sportqack is more stationwagon than the A4 Avant

Edit : Ford Anglia is the exception on this

:D
See, that's all it takes. And you do have a beautiful station wagon. All that the A3 Sportjack needs to do is admit it. Just take a step back and say "MY stationwagon". It feels good don't it? Plus there we have all the millimetres too prove it thanks to PP.

Why thank you.. and yes, I'm a proud Wagonisor :D

Not in MS Paint it isn't.

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA!

Roux!

I was *shocked* (not really) but I caught a bit of Auto Mundial earlier on; on Ignition & he mentions the "A3 Sportback which is just the estate version of the A3"

That explains the high sales volumes of VAGs I guess.

I would say it's down to desirability, reliability and resale value.

I also think that millions of people parting with hundreds of thousands of Rands each, says more than just one/few person.

Millions of people voted for George Bush and Zuma.

Popularity does not necessarily indicate a good product:)

Entirely different and non comparable scenarios. Can't compare to financial decisions which affect lives and safety daily, which in most cases indicates a good product. Everyone just knows VAGs are good products. Besides being reliable and holding value, their models also transcend the various levels of affordability, not just catering for one/few markets.
