(Another) Plasma vs. LCD/LED Thread

I wish I can find those posts, I even took you on for it. Anyway I'm outa here because Postman will have another thread closed very soon!

No idea which posts you're talking about because you're lying.

The only people who have ever suggested reporting bad posts, are you and Mr BEE. I do not need to resort to RBP, well capable of defending myself against pack mentality.

So you agree then it's better if caveman rather than modern-men purchase Plasmas?

People with too much ambient light should not buy reflective screens, let alone reflective plasmas. It's one of the cornerstones of TV advice, and confirmed when judging TVs under bright shop lighting where plasma's appear dull.

Bud and I know the usual suspect will come here and say otherwise, LED is the only way to go.
Thank god I never bought plasma.
I have the LED is my room and have it on. Energy saver, its bright and awesome.
When I take it off, it feels like I am in the movie.
Even brighter and more vibrant.
Plasma is yesterday

This is some of the best current valid info, with no distorted views whatsoever. This certainly triggered no responses.

That is the best I would recommend to any buyer, look at the current technology and rather spend more and get the best solutions than buy into old technology on the way of the door. Black levels is not the only consideration in TV's no matter what any idiot beg to say different.

Plasma is current technology and has many benefits besides black levels. Viewing angles, and a natural-looking picture with accurate colours, are some of the benefits. This is really appreciated in dimmer rooms, or if one happens to view TV at night.

Well you recommended the Plasma. Full Stop.

People recommend all techs, and all techs fail. It's their nature.

How would I know if it will have failed if it were LCD?

You don't, the problem is your basing your failure on me, without understanding someone could have recommended LCD and it could have failed too. The difference is you wouldn't go and blame them.

I can see that from your number of posts score, you do this profusely. :D

Why are you moaning at me when your TV is still under warranty?

Another thread regarding which tv....

Got a R3500 Game voucher and would like to buy me a new TV.

Any ideas?

Sport is the most important. Then movies and then what ever is on eg. SD content.

Room is about 3.5 - 4 meters.

Have a SD PVR at the moment but would like to get a HD PVR in the very near future.

I also have a Sony STR-500 and would like to stick to Sony but if Sammy or others offers better, I would consider changing.

Had a look at Sony KLV-32CX320 but not sure if it would suit my needs?

Thank you in advance.

McGuywer, go back to your thread, and have a look at the suggestions. I suggested PS43D450, while Tim suggested LA40D550.

Why then, did you buy the plasma?

... they don't appear dull, they are dull

You should calibrate your TV and see how much dimmer it becomes. First step would be disabling any contrast/brightness boosters, as well as reducing brightness and backlight settings. You are washing out colour detail for excessive brightness all so that you can close your eyes in an explosion, and then argue that plasmas are dim. Ever closed your eyes in the cinema?

Start by enabling Movie/Cinema mode.

CNET TV calibrations follow a few steps, utilizing the ISF Advanced workflow from Calman 4.x and patterns from the VideoForge signal generator connected via HDMI to the TV:
Choose the picture mode (typically Movie or Cinema) and color temperature preset (typically Warm or Low) that produces the most accurate initial dim-room picture, allows full access to detailed controls and comes closest to D65, or 6500K.
Disable or minimize any automatic picture adjustment controls, dynamic contrast, ambient light sensors, auto black, auto color/flesh tone, or other circuits that change the picture on the fly. Engage settings, such as local dimming on LED displays, that generally improve picture quality.

...etc.

So now I need to take the Plasma in (where?).

I do not have the boxes.

It is a huge inconvenience. If I bought a Sinotec, sure. But did not expect this from Samsung.

This:
Ignore the troll. It's actually pretty sad how he rolls. He makes recommendations out of his own LCD fanboism based on higher resolution (at the entry level). He does not watch TV, doesn't even have a decoder, let alone sport. He couldn't give a stuff about your tasks or the fact that entry 43" plasma suits your purpose to a T.

Really sad what's become of Tim the Troll, seems the pressure was too overwhelming.

You don't take it any where. Samsung repair agents come and fetch it from you. A box is not necessary for warranty, and it's unlikely an invoice is either. You have a serial number on the back for a reason. Samsung are tops in SA when it comes to after-sales service. Phone them and give them the serial, do not wait any longer.

Exactly, he didn't watch TV, had no decoder of any sort, nor did he watch sport.

Tell us again what you were looking for in your TV.

Storm in a teacup all due to pack mentality.

Once you have your swap out, sell it for R4,500 and buy a 40" LCD...

What a question. I cannot fathom this guy. Must be the age?

No more comments! he not only "enforced his will" but attacked and defamed another poster while doing it!

Typical of what me must endure in all TV threads on a daily level. Refer the comments yesterday on Marine's post!
