(Another) Plasma vs. LCD/LED Thread

To be fair, McGuywer didn't say anything about having a bright room. And after taking the TV home, he had a week (or two) to realise that the TV was too reflective for his needs, in which he could have returned it for a full refund or exchange.

So that justifies his continued attacks on other members for posting their opinions, experiences and views? Also his repetitive posting of the same information over and over? Why is his 2'd nick "PlasmaPot"

I vote for a PlasmaPot only subsection on this forum!

But No matter what is said, It did not end their, on the contrary......

Yes, if you watch your TV from 1.5m lol then you _might_ notice slightly more detail on a full HD screen while displaying FHD media.

You said SD TV, sport, and HD PVR in future. I have the _exact_ main interests, and entry plasma wins, unquestionable.

Most of my friends have the same interest, yet they took advice from people like Tim and when they see how good my entry plasma is compared to their Full HD LCDs wooow, they are blown away.

Please read the other thread I've been replying to, thread title includes 3D.

I don't get the SD CRT when he needs a HDTV. Either you don't understand this or are trolling, perhaps the latter is now habitual.

HD Ready plasmas are the best for HD PVR and sport lovers because they are covered for:

1) SD TV
2) Sport/motion
3) HD TV

You have absolutely no interest in 1) and 2), why are you here again?

What a load of poppycock.

McGuywer, I think you have enough information. Compare both sets at a proper AV shop with a dark room from your viewing distance. Take SD, sport and HD media.

I'm taking bets
.

Its a very old panel that they made in 2005, when I bought it. Thats why I'm getting the Samsung. Nothing wrong with the sony, just time for an updated look.

Oh ok cool. It's probably still better than the cheapy LED's these days :p Hopefully picking up my 51e550 tomorrow if I can find that flipping tv license or their system is back online so they can look it up.

The "attacks" come from both sides. That he has a second nick only proves that.

What other attacks do you refer too in that thread? He belittled Tim after every one of his posts, he's an arrogant young fool if you ask me! "nobody should posts any information to the contrary in any TV thread than him", he believes!

That a very nice panel :) Good price to for what you getting. Maybe I should also add that to my shopping list ;)

This plasma vs LCD, now plasma vs LED debates are quite entertaining. I have two relatively high end tvs (at the time they were high end). one plasma and one lcd. The plasma is streaks ahead of the lcd but the plasma also has its issues. I used to be a LCD fan, then swopped to a Plasma fan and now I dont care at all to be honest.

The thing is, much of the stuff spoken about in this thread actually doesn't bother me at all any more. The reason given for not buying plasma eg) ir and dull are actually not quite true from my first hand experience. There used to be IR but it used to go away pretty quickly and the plasma is pretty damn bright when you calibrate to be. The lcd's uniformity and black levels are not as good as the plasma but they really aren't that bad and most people wouldn't even notice it.

Neither is bad technology but neither are perfect and both are pretty watchable. I would even say that most people wouldn't even know the technology was different if they were placed in identical cases. Now, i just want the best bang for my buck. If my budget is 35K, I want the biggest screen not that one is 0.5% more black than the other or 0.2% more uniform than the other. I dont want stupid media players and I dont want barely functioning youtube apps. I just want a tv from a reputable brand as big as I can get. At this point this is a plasma. If LCD / LED was cheaper I would go with that. I would think that about 95% of the population would be the same if they were not "led" by annoying ill-informed sales people.

This is the best reality check comment on all these TV threads, more valuable than spitting out links about trivial spec's and irrelevant nuances!

The best tech is what ever I have in my lounge at any point in time... /end debate

Can't be, it's not a Plasma ;)... Back to reality. Bragger, but what did it cost?

I fully agree with what you say, but I do prefer LG passive Cinema 3D (LED) TV. :D

Thank you, and thank you.

How old are your TVs? Sometimes the "out of date" argument is also used. Please trounce those too. :D

You again fail to read properly!

The new SONY 939 TVs were announced in the US this week. They use both a CFL backlight and LEDs for the LCD screen. The 62" model is $5000. The 55" model (only) $3000. Got best ever reviews in Absolute Audiophile

This is great news.

I learnt to read properly quite some time ago believe it or not, and I have always firmly believed that HD sources look good on just about any modern HDTV.

You'll just have to accept that everything I've expressed in this thread which suits technical discerning viewers was confirmed by a post that yourself and Mr Bee applauded, there's no undoing now.
