The first gen all came with all around electric windows, and you had the option of the punchier 1.6 motor which was removed with the facelift.

Just keep in mind the fiesta has the powershift autobox, which is well known to give issues.

I had a chance to look at some cars today.. this led to another requirement that my SO added to the list, must have electric rear windows..

Contenders on the list:

2017 fiesta with a autobox good amount of boot space and looks like the top spec, so electric rear windows..

2017 Corsa enjoy doesn't have electric rear windows, but looks very good inside and good enough space so I suspect that seeing the car in person might sway her about the rear windows..

Also saw a 2015 fiat Panda pop, wasn't able to view this in person but looks good.. anyone have experience or thoughts on this..?

I guess you might have a fluid spec model then.. the one I looked at was a 2017 motion.. has driver controls for the two front windows, but that's it..

I'm mainly curious, why are back electric windows a deal breaker? it will be several years before the kid is able to use them and how often otherwise will it be yourselves sitting in the back?

It is a dealbreaker because there is just no reason not to have them when you can have them at the same or lesser price. And passengers sometime leave windows open, is it not nice to just have a button to deal with that instead of having to stop the car to close the window?

i guess not bad points, for me personally i wouldnt let it dictate me getting a better car potentially just because of full electric windows, but i do agree i would rather have it than not obviously.

She will be driving this car for a good few years before getting another one again.. knowing that you won't be happy with the car because of something for years to come, doesn't make it an easy purchase.. regardless, I do hope that the looks of the Corsa sways her in terms of the rear windows, because it looks like a really good car..

So, I should instead pay 80k more (maybe 50k more if demo) vs a one year old car, with 34k km on the clock with balance of warranty and service plan just to have my brand new car be worth 80k less in one years time..?

A second hand car is not going to depreciate by 80k in one year unless you go write the car off somehow..

Don't even bother, apparently used cars fall apart the minute you drive them from the dealer, costing you loads and loads of money.

This is not true. My 2010 Civic which I bought in 2017 is financed via Standard Bank.

No idea. I think I applied for pre-approval. Shopped around for the car I wanted, got the interest rate as low as I could and that was that.

As far as I'm concerned, the 5 year thing was/is a non-issue.

Then your calculator is clearly broken.

I’ve worked it out many many times and not even once has new proved to be cheaper or more sensible.

You buy new purely because you want new. There is no other justification really since it’s always more expensive.
