Antenna Range

Hi There

I have the standard Mega 105 router from telkom for my adsl @ home. I want to increase the range of my router as if I go with my laptop 50 meters from modem the signal cannot be picked up.
Does anyone know where I can get a stronger antenna than the standard one?

I use a wireless range extender for that.

I'm using a Linksys WRE54G - but there are many products out there that do the same thing. In fact, most wireless routers allow for the functionality - it's called "WDS".

I had some trouble with the Linksys initially, and I had to roll back the firmware before it worked.

I thought that WDS doesn't have an official standard and was more vendor specific?

From wikipedia: "WDS may be incompatible between different products (even occasionally from the same vendor) as it is not certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance"

So you're right - it might not work across products. However, I have managed to solve the same problem as you have using this method.

That said, after reading the wikipedia article, I think I'm going to start looking at alternative solutions!
