Piracy Bill approved

France's lower house of parliament has approved a pioneering bill allowing authorities to cut off Internet access to people who download illegally.
 
Maybe add the country to which this bill is being applied to the heading?
 
Prepare yourselves for an influx of French refugees. I'm sure that qualifies as a crime against humanity. Can't see it catching on.
 
People will find ways to encrypt and mask what they're doing online! I think the approved bill is a waste of time!

so if they send you a letter, you stop what you doing wait a month or so and start doing it again,another name system etc....

What is the local situation? Do we have similar legislation?
 
I hope the french know how to secure their WiFi. Illegal downloaders will simply piggy back off someone elses connection where they can now.

Hypothetical question...
When are you considered to have downloaded illegally? If I were to download a corrupted open office doc that contains fragments of data, which without some type of re-assembler / compiler, is considered garbage, would that be construed as piracy - I mean it's just bits & bytes. It's like a fragmented hard drive, surely?
