Hey I'm coming here for some help, currently we are with axxess mtn fixed lte ( 200mbps combo ) currently getting around 20 - 30 down and same for upload, during morning times ( around 2 - 3 am ) I can get up to 70 mbps, I recieve full bars on my router to tower connection and I am well in the coverage zone, support is useless as they have been asking for speed tests ect. but not trying to fix the problem, they are always telling me that an mtn technician is investigating your problem ( ofcourse nothing happens ), I have seen someone on here with a similar problem and it seems someone helped him to go from 30 mbps to 180mbps. Does anyone have some advice or help, I would really appreciate it.

to rule out wifi issues in your house, carry out the test when connected to the router with a lan cable.
If you are already using a lan cable, then I'll hand over to the LTE gurus.

Yeah tried with lan and multiple locations speed doesn't seem to change much at all.

2 separate factors to note/rule out:
  1. LTE uses cellular networks which are prone to congestion and more especially so during loadshedding time
So take note of "peak congestion times" as well as if there is loadshedding at that time

  2. Your router's 2.4Ghz SSID will most likely max out between 80-90Mbps
If your router has a 5Ghz SSID, try connecting and testing on this frequency as it can attain max throughput of about 180-190Mbps
Your most accurate test results will be form a cabled connection to your router

Have tested doesn't seem to change anything, also I have noticed something weird, when testing with the wifi it shows that I am using afrihost instead of axxess, is that normal?

Also we have a high powerd cpe on our roof that we bought a while ago when we were with Jenny's internet is there anyway to change it into a router connection booster, if you know what I mean. And is there a way to locate which tower my wifi is currently connected to as it locks on a tower as soon as the sim is inserted?

The Jenny Internet is a 5Ghz CPE on outdoor WiFi. Why did you stop using it? If you have coverage form them keep on using them instead.

LTE is a rubbish. Finish and klaar as noted in #4 its will be congested and during loadsehdding most likely titsup.

If LTE is the only option then this puppy is the only one that will make the best of a bad situation. Yes, its more expensive than the cheap rubbish supplied by the ISP.

always wondered how these things actually work and how one sets them up too

Yeah I agree Jenny's is much better than lte but looking for a faster line and Jenny's is 2 expensive

Well @r00igev@@r hit the nail on the head but how does one know what tower to point at, watched a video on it you sit there and just point but with load-shedding one would be pointing forever just about in the city. Again I meant the lhg lte
Easy. Point it in the direction in which people are walking from carrying stolen batteries.
