Any idea when the network will be 'usable' again?

Tee hee

the problems we are experiencing are because we are now in the season of Spring. With all the additional leaves on trees, the signal has to negotiate a trickier path to get to your modem. Essentially, having to work its way round these leaves has doubled the distance it needs to travel and thus is now much slower. (hey at least its more inventive than the crap that they keep telling us!)
:)

Oh thank you thank you thank you for the first giggle about this I have had all day, but... I do think you should copyright your explanation. If you don't, don't complain when it appears on the Sentech bulletin board:D

I can't get any emails through!!! I wonder if Sentech can reimburse all the businesses that I have lost business due to their inability to act as an ISP. Their lame apology is abit too late in the making. And working round the clock doesn't resolve anything since your technicians don't know what they're doing in the first place.

Now it won't even connect. Been like that since earlier tonight. Eish.

Extremely slow speeds in Cape Town

Our connection is running at an all time slow tonight. It took about 3 minutes to load this "reply to thread" page! Running off Welgemoed tower - MW128.

Just to add to the list of unhappy customers, my 512KB package is horrible atm, constant disconnections and no international, local is up & down.

well..... 07h18 and at least I have international and can access my mail :

Your line speed is approximately 94.7 Kbps or 11.6 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )

Actually, if I remember correctly, a helpdesk orc really DID quote this excuse a year ago when the network was terrible.

Seems to be getting slightly worse again.
My guess at the moment is
a) The config was pooked, which was fixed yesterday sometime (explains why all the sentechs dropped over night and when reconnected had speed)
b) The intl bandwidth from the mystery new supplier is not enough
