Only after 6 months of moving to this new location and completely redoing everything to look fresh and new - all of a sudden there is nothing. No cars in the used lot, no cars on the showroom floor and I am pretty sure the coke vending machine is also empty. To add insult to injury this used to be the Lindsay Saker dealership before they bought it :p

Just a week ago the CEO of GMSA said they were complete unaffected by the issues GM is facing. I think he used the word "shielded" a few times. Well I guess they are not as shielded as he thought

Have you seen any other GM dealerships in SA looking like this ?

Yep - thats for sure :D
With SA buyers lack of taste I think VW is going to do even better :p

Thanks - this is a light hearted posting because it was very funny when I drove past there some afternoon last week and realized they are gone - as in completely packed up, took their bags and gone home. I mean - how often does one see a dealership do that :)

I want to do a panaorama of it sometime in the day - bit its at a very busy spot and its a bit close to the informal settlement in Stellenbosch to I might get robbed perhaps... But still, looks pretty funny.

If I do the panorama good enough you might even see the awesome new VW dealership built on the other side of the railway just down the road :p

LOL... but whats really sad is that these dealerships are closing like they are... there is one here in pta that are also closed (although i think it was toits nissan)

The Stellenbosch one would not have closed down if they stayed where they were at (accross from KFC). I think this move was the final nail in their coffin. Their service was good, sometimes a bit too pricey - which led a lot of people (including me) to service their GM products at the local Bosch service station.

The cars are parked at the back where they belong...
They only allowed showroom floor time for 5 minutes before the showroom glass starts to crack.

They probably put too many Opel's on the showroom floor and the awesomeness couldn't be contained by the glass.

Or perhaps VW drivers got distracted by the Opel's awesomeness, it's a mystery.

In this case if there is anything to get distracted by it is the Mercedes showroom across the road.

JK8, that showroom was the VW showroom for the last 13 years before GM bought it and the glass did not crack once from ugly VWs - I am sure it was only a joy to show off some cheap rebadged Deawoos in the last couple of months. Oh, and there is nothing at the back either. The place is completely deserted.

Do you think new owners bought out the dealership ? Why would it go completely empty all of a sudden ?

they have build a totally new showroom, havent they ?? petrol station gone from last year. maybe they are waiting for the new cars and new equipement

They did a complete revamp of the place after VW moved out and it was running for a month or so now. Then last week all of a sudden there was nothing. They have about 7 or so cars in the show room and the used car lot had about 20 or more. So I am not sure what happened.

ohya, true, hmm... well, no idea at all! maybe they spend too much money on the showroom and now the dealer owner is broke

Thats the GM trend these days...
