Any RELIABLE Download managers?

IDM is honestly the best I've used. Great speeds. I use it to schedule downloads for when I have midnight cap to burn. Hasn't let me down once. :-)

FDM is the only download manager that gives you the ability to query the file size (great to check if you're downloading the file or a redirect page). Do any of the others?

I disagree. I still think it is the MOST reliable.

Yes, there are free ones, and everyone knows I love free. but this is one of those cases where a paid program is simply better.

What functionality does it give you that the free ones don't? I don't have a problem with paying for a function/feature I require but if it's available for free with same level of functionality I'll always go for that option.

This is a nice feature.
+1 for fdm!

I love downthemall too, really wish it was available for Chrome...

Hi

I was downloading Windows 8 Consumer and my Wi-Fi modem decided to restart at some point. my download stopped and there are files missing.

I want to know what download manager can I get that can resume downloads even if the internet connection is turned off.

Thanks

Getright. Proof tested with a 70 gig rar file that had numerous stops and starts. I'd yet to see another DM do that...

Getright!
Concur.

Flashget sounds like it is used more by people meaning its more reliable. A friend of mine told me to get Vuze, does Vuze do downloads too?

Getright doesnt list Chrome as a supported browser, what are Chrome users using?

AFAIK there aren't ANY decent download managers for Chrome. I use downthemall on Firefox, only thing I ever use Firefox for.

IDM supports Chrome, hence why i prefer IDM since you don't need plugins inside the browser . IDM grabs (and detects) everything from outside (so it knows you are on a page with video and pops up to grab video if need be), it also overrides the default chrome downloader and grabs other files when you download (basically it's like Flashgot too).

So since IDM is operating entirely outside the browser without plugins, it basically functions with -any- browser you want to use.
