Any RELIABLE Download managers?

Hi

I was downloading Windows 8 Consumer and my Wi-Fi modem decided to restart at some point. my download stopped and there are files missing.

I want to know what download manager can I get that can resume downloads even if the internet connection is turned off.

I use Flashget. Very good. If you download the plugin Flashgot for FF, then it can connect to flashget.

I've used Free Download Manager and Orbit extensively and they are both very good. I've never lost any downloads with them, they simply time out, as would be expected.

Possibly related more to the resuming of interrupted download capabilities of the site hosting the file and not the download manager. IDM is solid as is Orbit...

Where are you downloading the ISO from? Microsoft should provide recovery if the connection goes down irrespective of which manager you use.

I disagree. I still think it is the MOST reliable.

Yes, there are free ones, and everyone knows I love free. but this is one of those cases where a paid program is simply better.

DAP - just make sure you don't install all the crapware which is default with it.

IDM is my favorite. Best is how you dont need browser plugins to grab content ( i.e. video) from websites, especially since chrome dont got cool video grabber plugins like firefox....with idm, problem solved.

Okay, I will get Free Download Manager. I am downloading the ISO from Microsoft's website.

Let me finish the last 500mb of my cap remaining, then I will download this using my local cap

You could of course kill two birds with one application, AND use a very innovative and user-friendly browser, by simply switching to Opera as your browser. It includes a very straightforward and robust built-in download manager which has never let me down with Resumes etc. (Opera also even includes its own email client, though I doubt you would use it for any serious work).
