Anybody here using Bitco's VOIP home solution?

I already have their 5Mb internet service and is now wondering if it is a viable alternative to having a Telkom line? Will people on Telkom Closer packages still benefit from long free calls to this VOIP number or do they now pay more?

Why don't you phone BitCo and ask?

They will also tell you that their broadband packages is fantastic and that the FUP will not affect your streaming. This is not the case.

So I believe asking an actual user and getting their opinion on the service will be more accurate.

I don't think that BitCo home is really comparable to the Telkom Closer packages which offers Free calls with some restrictions. Each call on a VoIP providers network is billed (perhaps with the exception of On-network). You will most likely save some money on the outbound rates and the line rental should you go with VoIP in a home environment.

So I guess the question is whether the move to VoIP is justified based on your billing patterns. At the end of the day the numbers are what matters, unless there are other reasons for migrating - access to services, added features and functionality, community calling, and so on.
