Ahh Mweb were my dial up provider before I moved to iBurst. I rememeber wanting to keep my email address and them not being able to do that. 2 years ago that was. Good times.

Zell: Do you have two months because you have to give notice at the end of March?

Yep.

mweb are still selling dial-up accounts with new pc's. (where you pay less for the pc but have to pay mweb per month for a year at least)
they must be making a killing with these sales, no wonder they just sit back and laugh and dont care if they lose ADSL customers.

The poll should have another option:

4) I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot barge pole

I'm still paying them for a dial-up account just so I can keep my iAfrica email address. My ADSL provider is Webafrica.
Hope you're not paying full price.

I have used mweb for approximately 7 years now.First with 56k Then isdn and now with adsl.I agree that they are expensive but since introducing anti spam filtering and anti virus e mail I have never had any spam e mails nor any virused e mails delivered to me by mweb. What price does one put on privacy and protection?

Not to be disrespectful but you are precisely the type of customer that MWeb wants to grab onto and never let go, the ones that fall for all this 'value added' nonsense they claim to offer extra assiting the justification of their pricing, yet is pretty bog std across the board.
Their pricing is excessive.
We have some MWeb accounts through the company, it is much more expensive than other reputable ISP's like OpenWeb, WebAfrica, Axxess, etc, etc.

I use mweb adsl extensively, use about 7-9gb per month of their bandwith. I know they are overpriced. But you can not compare them to an IS adsl account. I also have a Business 1mb uncapped ADSL account from IS. The difference, especially international is day/night. Everyone always complain about IS's speed on this forum, I have the same problems with my uncapped adsl from them, mine not even being an express uncapped. but my mweb, never ever gives problems. I can't remember the last time when I had to phone mweb to enquire about problems. unfortuantely they dont sell uncapped accounts, even if their premium was R1000-R1500 more than IS's adsl uncapped, i would go with mweb's offering.

Yeah, unfortunately. Do you think I could ask them for a discount? Somehow I doubt it.

I'm in the same situation as you. I haven't pushed it yet as I've only recently gone over to ADSL. And I am toying with the idea of forgetting about the email address and trying to tell everyone that it's changed ... possibly more difficult than dealing with MWEB.

They do have a price (R26/month I think) for email-only, but I'm only aware of this being in addition to another service.

Well you know thet say there's a sucker born every minute, Try downloading 90 Gigs with your MWEB acc, consistently.

I have an uncapped IS Business account, as I pointed out in my post, if you read properly, I was comparing the international speeds between the 2:confused:
