Been a while since I last posted on here. First off, I'm in Durban and I've been on the 50GB LTE Package with Telkom for about 3 months. For the past couple of weeks, I've been trying to upgrade to Uncapped LTE Package, but to no avail.
I've already made a successful bid for a spot on the local base station, and I received an email from Telkom with a ticket number. All that's left to do now is to simply activate the new package on my Telkom account, but Telkom just won't do it.
It's been 9 days since I received the email from Telkom. Since then I've been to two different Telkom branches, both of whom, have said they can't do it. I've also made numerous phone calls to Telkom on their 081 180 line to get them to activate the new Uncaped Package, but they've told me to go to the stores to do it.
I've visited the Telkom branch at Gateway, where they said they couldn't perform the activation/upgrade. I've also visited the Telkom branch at Musgrave, where one of the employees told me they could do it at the store, but that it was better to do it via phone (the employee told me to call the 081 180 number). So I phoned the 081 180 number, where after 45+ mins of waiting, I was told that it could be only done at a Telkom store. So I went back to Telkom's Musgrave branch to activate the uncapped package, but it took 3 employees to search and eventually find out that they couldn't perform the upgrade (despite telling me on my previous visit that they could perform the upgrade).
As per the email Telkom sent me, I was told a Telkom rep would contact me during the week. That was around a week and a half ago. 7 Working days have passed since then and still no reply. I am within the first 50 applicants in my area (hence the R599 p/m price), so it's not as if I'm on a long waiting list. Also, it's not as if I'm waiting to set up anything before I can be "ready" to make use of the uncapped package, I already have everything set up
It just seems that no one at Telkom seems to know what is going on with their new Uncapped LTE package. After all my visits toTelkom's different branches, and phone calls to their call centre's, there was not a single employee who knew exactly what was going on. There was not a single Telkom employee who knew how to upgrade my current package to the new uncapped one.
Are there other people in Durban, or anywhere else for that matter also having the same difficulties in upgrading to the new Uncapped LTE package?
Also I remember a couple of years back ther eused to be a couple of Telkom Reps on MyBroadBand, are there still any Telkom Reps on MyBroadBand these days, that could assist with this?
