Anyone else not swooning over the Olympics?

I'm not trying to piss on any fire, I fully understand why people love it. I was actually going to post this in off-topic, but I saw the Olympic thread, and my OCD kind of forced me to post it there. :D

But ya, I kind of agree, was not not trying to deflate anyone!

*edit*

Those guys above me though...

I'm out of here, before things get rough. I think I may have ignited a ****storm. :p

*runs* (hoping for a bronze, at least).

Thank you.

Ok....let me stick to English then. If you guys aint interested...then why post here...hell...why even come to this section. If I aint interested in the cricket...I aint gonna go and post a thread about how lame cricket is in the Cricket World Cup section. I like you Copa...you know I do....but this thread just does not belong here. Rather post it in OT or something where it belongs. Really no need to p*ss on the fire of excitement many of us have here for our boys and girls thats doing us and their country proud. Really not cool. Anyway....just my thoughts on it.
I agree I guess, you are right, I do not get into these things, I just dont get caught up in it, same with the soccer, couldnt care less, I was working :D But yeah my friends normally kak me out, I just do not get into these things.

yeah, you might think i'm a pretentious douchebag for saying that, but I truly believe sport is for people who have nothing better to do.
I think you're a moron who misses the entire point behind sport.

Yeah I try staying well clear of sports. That just leads to 700 buck dstv subscriptions, R500 pink shirts and patrick lambie shampoo and I really dont want to go down that road.

Oh I agree that some athletes are exceptional.
The people sitting on their couches watching the same sport over and over, week after week, however, are not.

My mind would go crazy if you forced me to watch 2 hours of "different people having a go at hitting a ball", nevermind week after week.

meh...

I think my mind is just too mature to be amazed by people running around, jumping as high as they can, or throwing balls around.

watching people throw a ball around, all weekend?
seriously, get something better to do than watching others play with a ball... you are wasting your life.

and stop saying "we won!" when your team wins. you didn't win... you didn't do anything except sit on a couch drinking beer.
also, wearing rugby gear is dumb, especially if you're unfit with a boep. sports gear is not clothing.

let the flaming begin.

A bit like the circus, once you get over the hype of records then there is little too it.

snoozefest

I'd rather watch paint dry. Rugby, boxing, maybe some MMA - everything else bores me. BUT I do see how people can get really involved in it. Nice to see a bit of country pride but for crying out loud, hold the fkn flag the right way up...

I really like the Olympics since there is such a variety of sports that one never get to follow or watch.

I would never follow any of these sports on their own, but it is interesting to see all these "strange" events and how much effort went into it.

Skeet, trap, badminton, waterpolo, handball, weightlifting, fencing, judo, cycling, archery, canoeing, FASCINATING.

It is once every 4 years, try and let go of that grumpy attitude for only 2 weeks every 4 years, you might like the sunshine.

Agreed.

Upon reflection, if I had a TV I'd probably watch a bit of it every now and again. I do not though, so it's a moot point.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with watching a bit of sport now and again, especially the Olympics that only come every 4 years.

But you can't deny that sitting on your ass all day every weekend watching TV is a good way to live out your life.
Especially if it's watching something like "kicking a ball" over and over again....you won't gain anything except for a boep

the problem is that once this 2 weeks is up the next two weeks of something else begins. A little hype can get you into anything. put some exciting dance music in the adds, get some facebook buzz and soon everyones talking about who will be eliminated from the microsoft sql coders reality show.

Im just upset that they imposed this stuff on my riveting SABC 2 schedule.

Beach volleyball... Czech Republic... Marketa Slukova... Something to swoon over.
