Anyone experiencing degraded speed?

They have messed up something for sure, as my browsing both local and international is very slow, an example is this forum takes on average 52sec to refresh and every page I open from there takes between 40 to 50sec to complete loading.

YET for some weird reason downloading is on average pretty fast between 900kbps and +1mbps.
Still getting those slow few seconds during downloading when it drops to almost capped speed for a few seconds and then back to good speeds.

Not sure what they've done or trying to do but browsing has really become a pain in the butt for about a month or so.

EDIT: got timeout when trying to post this message and very slow when it actually did complete.

EDIT2: another strange thing is that if I browse while busy downloading then my browsing speeds are faster.

Weird Daev, cause my pings are still the same without many timeouts, well none local maybe some international.

We are still on the same tower??

Try changing your IP, it sorted stuff out for me last time, reset your modem/router.

Ok...here's the weird part...my local and international is working even if it feels a bit sluggy it works 100%

but....here's the weird parts...

On the speedtest I usually got between 900kbps and 1000kbps and now I'm gettings max 259Kbps....so you would think that I should complain...but emm...that's not the only thing that has changed...

Last night I did some torrent downloads while downloading VLC media player.... VLC came down @ 81Kbps and I was already gettings 65Kbps on torrent with 9Kbps Ul ... so err that's a total of 155Kbps... ;) guess i'll shut up for now

I got a 48.6k this afternoon on an iBurst speedtest and a similar one from Gamco. I still have massive packet loss and browsing was almost impossible. Im so suffering right now its unbelievable

Speed tests are a waste of time with this problem we're having since downloads are fine in fact pretty good, but browsing is faster with a dial up connection than with iBurst, which seems to be the bigger problem that has infected CT since iBurst were messing around lately.

Next they'll get browsing fast and downloading to a crawl.

My downloads were actually faster than they have been in a while last night, and international was good.

Now its back to 500-600ms international and local is bad too. Wait.. that was earlier today, a quick ping shows that it's back to 300-400ms international. I have no idea whats going on anymore, but in general its actually an improvement.

Well now I have a new problem and that is since my last post on the forum I've been getting blank pages when refreshing any of the sites I've gone to including this forum.
It would go through the whole process as if it was loading using bandwidth and then ended up with a blank page, no time out or anything like that just the pages were blank.

I checked with another of my PCs and it was the same, then all of a sudden it started working again.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem?

Dont want to sound too ignorant but here goes...why do I get a "general failure" message when I try ping google.co.za or google.com for that matter?

Anyone have an idea. There does not seem to be any problem accessing these pages..browsing slower for sure and downloads about the same. Also what a good standard test to use to check out my download/upload speeds. The test iBurst offers no longer appears on their web page...?

Thanks in advance

I wonder if they will ever realise that its not US that is the issue its THEM. I phoned them to log a complaint and i was repeated told that it was me and not them BUT the retard on the other line managed to fudge themselves over by also mentioning that she is having a hard time logging into the iBurst site because its slow.. Stupidity of the highest form. Gotta love it. Not.

Thats insane.. better than a few ADSL lines I've seen.

I take it you're happy? btw are your local pings higher than usual? Like myadsl.co.za for example.

Is it just Cape Town or is everyone's international up the pole this morning? Local seems okay, but anything international is sloooooooooooowwwww.

Since that "Authentication degradation" problem today which has supposed to have been "RESOLVED" according to the incident report page I've been getting plenty of dying or dead IPs, thats when I'm able to logon to get another IP.

Browsing is near impossible with many of the IPs and downloading has now also gotten worse since you guys were messing with the network today.

SO IBURST WE KNOW YOU GUYS READ THIS FORUM, HOW ABOUT ACTUALLY FIXING SOMETHING FOR A CHANGE INSTEAD OF JUST PATCHING IT UP!!!!!

This has now gone way beyond a joke so either sort it out or get someone who knows what he is doing!!!!

Have finally applied for ADSL, can’t take this crap anymore...

DITTO!!! Been onto the branch manager in Cape Town as yet no luck, been three weeks now that my Telkom dial-up is faster and more reliable than iBurst...

Have finally applied for ADSL, can’t take this crap anymore, advised my clients that are still with iBurst to do the same.

Michael, I'm feeling the same way about iBurst right now, it looks like they will never sort out the problems since whenever they touch the system they mess up something else.

I did a few tests changing IPs and found that most with 224, 225, 226, 227 in the position shown: xx.xxx.224.xxx are either dying or dead.

In fact whenever 224 is in that position it is stone dead with no browsing or downloading.

As I already mentioned in my other post, since today with the "Authentication degradation" (which is now supposed to be fixed) a lot of the time when I try to change IP I cannot connect at all as if the system does not recognize my logon details.

This tells me they have NOT fixed the problem above and probably don't know how to.

Faith in Shaun Green has also gone out the window as far as I'm concerned, and he was my last hope of anyone who "seemed " to care but since Ed left he has tended to stay clear of trying to help with our problems, which are really iBurst's problems not ours.

This company seems to think it can mess with it's customers, well sooner or later if they keep at it they will have no customers at all.
It's painful to see such a good system go downhill the way iBurst is going.

EDIT: did more tests and 224 and 225 in the position above are DEAD with no throughput at all, and 228 so far seems to be the only range that is fast as they all should be.
I'm still waiting for someone to explain why some IPs are dead and others are fast, but I guess no one here knows.

My theory is that it has something to do with the bandwidth monitor that is messed up, and at this rate I'll be lucky to hit my cap by the end of the month.

iBurst is having serious network issues in Cape Town since when they "changed upstream providers" - installed a proxy server and started shaping network traffic...

They are still messing with the network, but my connection has not been stable for weeks, I struggled for two hours to upload a new website via FTP.

MrH gonna PM you...

Seemed to get better about 2 hours after my last post in this thread, then today it was back to the same nonsense again.

Michael I replied to the PM

Thanks got it...

My speeds are back! 64, 227 & 226 are dead; 228, 235 - 238 has been taken out of service, 224 is flying!

They have also removed the proxy, thank god and shaping has seemed to have disappeared for the moment.

I HAVE BROADBAND ACCESS AGAIN!
