Hey guys,

For the past few months ive been getting alot of "your ip has been banned" errors from various websites. On inspection is seems that the IP address i am being issued with were used previously by spammer. Disconnecting and reconnecting my modem doesnt seem to resolve this as the exterior ip seems to remain the same. How do i get around this?

Hi Ice2cool,

If you still have the problem or if you still have the IP address, please forward to me as we need to clear the IP. Just switching the router off and on immediately will assign the same IP, it will have to be left off for longer

I've got the same problem, but I'm with telkom. The first time I went to 4chan.org it told me I'm banned for life, even though I've never been there before.

LOL... so I thought I would go see what its about and...

You have been banned from 4chan.

There was no entry in our database for your ban. Therefore, the reason for this ban cannot be automatically determined. It is likely that your ISP is caching a ban intended for someone else. Please contact a moderator on #4chan @ irc.rizon.net with your IP address (196.25.255.xxx) for more details. Moderators are channel ops (@) and half-ops (%).

If you're reloading this page, please try loading a board instead.

4chan does this to everyone ;) I got it once for apparently posting 'underage' porn

argh this problem is starting to cheeae me off. Im having to surf forums from my cell phone now!

The thing with 4chan is that it bans all IPs that belong to the ISP and not the individual him/herself. In the case of spamming, anyway.
A number of international ISPs are disallowed from posting. The blocks stem from repeated abuse coming from these ISPs/countries. At present, there is no way to exempt a specific user from these blocks—we apologize for the inconvenience.

About a month ago Cybersmart/SAOL guys got banned because of this exact reason. Was a temp ban of about 5 days, if I remember correctly.

I haven't kept up with this recently, but I believe its because a lot of web traffic going out of SA goes through a transparent web proxy and a lot of sites see us with the same IP address when we browse. Obviously the address of the transparent proxy has been banned.

I use to get problems from this ALL the time. Rapidshare thinking I had exceeded my daily limit (visiting it like once a month), WoW forums refusing to let me login, being banned from sites I had never visited before. I haven't had anything like this in about a year though.

yeah that pretty much sounds like whats happening to me. is there no way around this or than trying a different isp?

Nope, I have tried to get some ISPs unbanned before but they say that the reduction in spam is greater than letting some random guys from SA be there lol.

At least I can view the pages, just can't post which sucks but it all gets sucked in to the void that is 4chan.

Bumping this..
