Anyone out there use Xnets?

xnets

was wondering if anyone out there uses Xnets, aka, Xpress network solutions, aka Xnet internet service?

This bunch are based outside plettenberg bay on the garden route but apprently operate in 4 other provinces

I have had endless problems with connectivity and supposed "uncapped" access which is severly restricted once 6gb is hit

Constantly kicked off downloads, speed varies radically, emails get lost, no internet for days etc...

would love to hear any feedback as i am busy complaining to any organisations out there that will listen

I have Xnets.I must have a screw loose.Have 1gig capped contract and sometimes use it and need more.Just try getting a gig after hours. You call the after hours no,and you can be sure there will be no reply. When you eventually(mabe the next day) get hold of them, they tell you, they only answer the no during working hours.this has been going on for months. If you by some miricle, do get another gig, they invoice you for 3gig.Took about 4 months to try and get this rectified. You cant purchace another gig via there website.I have to call them.During the Christmas hollidays, they also closed the office. They again didnt answer the phone.Eventually, when i got hold of somebody and asked him why he didnt answer the phone,he told me he was riding his bike in the mountains.Great way to run a company. Also get dc many a time.Im going somewhere else.

I was on Xnets in Knysna for about a month when I decided to cancel.
I explained to them before I signed up that I needed to use SSH daily to international servers and they said no problem. I managed to use SSH only 2 days from the whole time I used Xnets.

They charged me for installation plus equipment, although I did the installation myself using my equipment.
They also continued to bill me monthly up to this day after I canceled. I received a phoned call where they confirmed my cancellation because they told me I had to give notice a whole month.

Today I received a phone call from someone in their accounts asking me when I'm going to settle my account, to which I replied that wont be, seeing that I have paid them in full until the last day I had an internet connection with them.

You guys should have a look http://www.wapa.org.za/contact/consumer-complaints/
Xpress/Xnets is a member of WAPA, so go complain there and hopefully enough complaints will sort things out.

People who have used internet at one of our three accounts will testify to the intermittent, sometimes nonexistent connection.I have complained for years now. My mother, who I kindly got onto xnets complains every time I see her , even though I pay. My business partner has had it with them ,and I have just terminated that account after 4 years of hell. I look forward to the threat of legal action and the opportunity to test their alleged bully tactics as referred to in this blog.
Bring it on.

Willem, I heard a rumor that Xnets have new owners. Is this true? If so, this could be your chance to recover your image as a company.
I'd also like to know, truthfully, where all the problems always occurs, as all the Xnets clients all heard these crazy excuses. Is it the wireless equipment always giving problems or being congested? Or is it the outbound links being congested?

This is so typical of yet another 'old school' South African company.

Seriously bad service. When will these okes learn that service is the first thing that people demand.
Deal with anyone overseas and you'll see the major difference in service levels, especially Switzerland.

On the + side though, I'm glad to see that people are demanding service! Use your wallet to do the fighting for you. It only takes a few people to stop using their service and you will see a very quick change in service levels.

What xnet should have done is come see you and ask why you are having a bad experience; instead they hit you with a letter from a lawyer. Idjits.

Firstly you can argue that they are not abiding to their side of the contract, so why would you? Your side being the paying part. You pay for a service, they provide it.

Xnets and their excuses

Hi Guys

Firstly I just want to congratulate Willem Scholtz for commenting, it says something about you. But unfortunately the problems Xnets are experiencing is not where you have any pull. To a previous comment, yes Xnets have been taken over by new owners for a good 5 months now but no improvement yet so I hardly doubt any change. You see you can't fix something if you are not aware of a problem. The new owners is just getting fed what they need to know from the Technical Manager, mr Henry Eybers. Truth is he's got too much on his plate and he don't really seem to know where the problem lays. Other BIG problem is the fact that they have no qualified Technicians whatsoever. Closest they have is the chap from George, Trevor and the one from Plett, Thomas. Now in Mosselbay they had very good technicians which was qualified and trained under the previous owners of the Mosselbay ISP but sadly they resently resigned, the whole technical team. That alone is reason for concern!

I have been a client from the previous ISP in Mosselbay and can honestly say that I never had a day's problems with them untill November last year when everything went pear shaped when Xnets took over. Since then I left them as my ISP cause of all the frustrations. Now if someone asks me for an ISP I just refer them to E-Time or Hilbert or someone, rather that than have them fight with me because of the poor service they receive from Xnets. I still know a few clients of Xnets and all are complaining and are gonna cancel as soon as contract expire.

I think we should go to the appropiate authorities regarding services like this. Go complain with wafa and icasa. Sorry Willem but for what reasons should these client still come to you with complains if their is nothing done about the situation. Look at al these comments and you'll see the same pattern of complains. How many times do someone have to complain about the same issue before it is enough??

Sorry to say Xnets but you have to clean up house before anyone can take you seriously!

"just as an update..have now been threatened with legal action if i actively discourage other people from using their service."

What a load of horse...i have met many unhappy xnets customers, now they are threatening legal action if we tell people about our bad experiences. Maybe you guys should all get together and threaten them with legal action for not providing the service they promised. They seems to tie you up in a contract and forget about you. I guess this is what you get when you shove a couple of Mikrotik's up and resell IS ADSL at ridiculous contentions ratios. Just look at their offices in Plett ... does not ring professional to me.... My personal opinion after having been with them... stay away at all costs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but this is ur first post in this thread? where were u "actively discouraging" people? or is that a load of bull too :p

just as an update..have now been threatened with legal action if i actively discourage other people from using their service. From what i see on similar isps on this forum others have experienced the same threats with similar co's in other areas when they renege on their service agreement

complain and get legal action...typical corporate

i still cant get a copy of my original contract and their T&C are not posted on their website as per most organisations rules an regs

anyone else out there had the same from these plonkers?

Am really keen to compile a dossier on these guys to present to the relevant authorities so if anyone knows anyone using xnets pls ask them to add their comment

Not me

and the cupboard was bare...

To top it all, it's not just empty promises from Xnets - it's now empty offices. Time to cancel the debit order (and keep the dish?)

Urgh. Today a woman in accounts phoned me asking me when I'm going to pay R1000+ for some install that never happened (it even details down the the t what they used to install). She asked me how its possible that there's an invoice for it if it never happened.
Its amazing, every month they phone me for the exact same thing and every month I have to explain that they screwed up.

they moved...

Ha! Fiendish Xnets moved Plett office and changed land-line - 'course there's no need to let your paying customers know about that is there?

Hi Guys
I can honestly say that I have had a great experience with Xpress Net in George. Willem has always been very helpful and quick to respond to my calls and mails. I have a very stable connection with none of the hassles mentioned here. I think you guys should get in touch with Willem to sort out your issues. I am considering moving to ADSL, but only for online gaming which is not possible on the ping of the wireless connection.

Hi,

We just signed up for an uncapped package with Xnets which promises a 750k speed with it being lowered to 256k after 12Gig use, but when we test with speedtest.com it shows about 180kbps. Does this sound right? It does not to me. What can we reasonably expect when they sell us a 750K package, or do I understand the whole line speed thing wrong?

I had a previous account with them and had non-stop problems. I then went back to JHB for 6 months. Before I left I cancelled my account. When I returned from JHB to Plett I suddenly start getting a bill for every month that I was in JHB.

The problem here is that they are the cheapest in an area where ADSL is not an option for many people due to remote areas, etc.

Everyone I speak to in this area that uses Xnets promises to leave the moment another option becomes available (legal action or not).

Anyway, if I pay for 750K should I not expect 750K?

Regards,

John

Why did you sign up with them again after having non-stop problems??
If you pay for 750k you should get that or at least 650k...
Leave them...
Can't you get adsl where you are?

P.S. Welcome to the forum ;)
