Sad state of affairs
I use xnets aka Xpress network solutions, aka Xnet internet service?
Firstly lets make it clear, Xnets offers a service that I WANT and NEED even if it is crap at times!
I am always refering the service to my friends, family and business contacts. For this though I have been punished with countless late night and early morning callls from family using the service, whenever the service goes down, in fact at times I wonder why xnets isnt paying me for customer relations.. lol
As they say, no good deed goes unpunished.
Note though: I have in the past had the same bully tactics, when I mentioned my frustration with the service using 'a skype mood message', I was called and crapped on from above and told in so many words to 'find another service provider.' (By one of the owners) I drove to the offices and made peace with the owner and have been using the service since then in silent mode. (hulle se mos n toe bek is n heel bek)
The reason for this is.
1. I live in the Crags 25 km from Plett in the PE direction. We have no other alturnative provider offering a 'uncapped' service at similar rates. Telkom dail up anyone? puke... I would rather suffer on xnets that use Helkom dailup!
2. I work on the internet like 15h a day and cannot afford to be without internet.
3. Cellphone 3G/GPRS, EDGE is so expensive it is also unreliable in the area where I live so I cant go that route 24/7. (Although I do use 2gigs of Vodacom data every month as a backup to Xnets connection.)
4. I dont believe in commenting on forums etc using a fake name, so I put my name on all comments and instead of the service provider seeing, hey a client that is giving us feedback, I get slammed in the nuts.
Sadly, I must agree with other users on this forum, whenever I try to download large files things go wrong, I find its best to use my expensive 3G connection for large downloads. Even the Nokia music store crashes on xnets connection, oops :-( I also find that making skype calls over xnets is pointless. So use my 3G for this also. Mostly web browsing, email and text based IM chats work great on the uncapped connection.
Complaining about service delivery in South Africa will only gets you stomped on. I know because I recently took vodacom on and am still reeling from the stomp. So if you post a comment like this using your real name, be prepared to be kicked in the balls. .....simonB reaches for his ball box, lets hope it not to hard this time.
I must say that from what I can see over the last few years, xnets is trying to improve, its just a very slow process. Lets hope that this conversation that started negative, through open communication we can build something positive.
Rob and Herman, Please dont ban me for my comments.... Rather come and join the conversation and let us as a community build a better xnets service for all.
