Anyone still experiencing slowdown?

Would it be evil if I felt relieved seeing bandwidth problems so as to console myself about the cr@p service from Telkom...

I don't of course [:D]

I'd probably get MyWirless the minute it became available in my area. Hope these are just teething problems and not indicative of future service.

Have the same problem... very slow browsing. What can the problem be? I have good signal - connect to tower 50 (Kilnerpark, Pretoria) - 15%.
Dunno?!?! [?][?][?]

Of topic->
noone... ya given the people problems again? *koosbeer beats noone down from the table with a stick*

"i may just be the dumbest guy on the forum"

I have to admit I fixed the problem.

After all I said about my PC blah blah blah yes I know...

It seems to be due to a virus of some kind - called bridge. I may be wrong though since after a reboot it started working again.

run msconfig and see if its listed in "Startup". remove it and do a proper virus scan. Maybe this helps.

OR they just fixed the connection.

This must be some kind of record for the fastest hot topic [;)]

Redid the test..

Speed Test
Your speed is: 1.49 MB/s
The test took 0.35 seconds to complete

Same 256k package !)

Now thats what you call bursting [:D]

Super... Could be the data is in cache which would mean it didn't actually download again, rather try restarting before doing test again.

Rhino.. try geting latest JRE, search on google should find it. Just make sure it's the international one and not USA version.

my problem is definitely "fixed" for now (pending reboot). Get AVG virus scan or Ad Aware Pro 6 (and update both NOW) they will both fix the problem. That is, if anyone else has a similar speed problem with no explanation.

Still waiting for my HDD to come back from data recovery guys, but for the last 3 days I've been getting 2.5kb/s

Seriously... that's no good. I've spoken to support a few times tonight, and I get a different answer each time.

Connecting to Bedfordview tower 36, anyone else on this tower? What's your experience like?

I would definitely recommend getting ad aware from www.suprnova.org or something. It will remove all bugs. Make sure your virus scan is updated.

Support is useless. You get nowhere with those guys. Unless the tower is down - they can organise a reset.

Try the virus scan suggested above.

Hi Yea, The speeds are still Terrible.

ProASM, there anything specifically wrong ? God I hope so, cause if this is just the way things are going...

Im on the 256K package, and currently DL-ing and Browsing in general is quicker with my Standard DialUp

Cheers fow now.

It seems to be area specific, at my place the download speeds are fine, not what they used to be but sill decent, i brought my pc and modem to my moms place today and the speeds are AWFUL. Dunno the exact signal str, but it's 4 lights at both places.

did the adware thing, removed 181 objects, restarted, but still no luck on the speed test...........

Any other idea's????

close all download apps like emule etc. then try get AVG antivirus with updates. maybe that will help.

did you check your msconfig for any odd stuff that you dont need.

start->run->msconfig
goto Services, check "Hide all microsoft services" then see if there is anything suspicious
Also check Startup

get rid of anything that says "bridge"

also patch your pc for sasser or block the ports on your firewall, you may just be forwarding traffic. Who knows.

Try all that and then do a proper flashget test. Not the sentech test.

ooooooooo I stopped internet security and firewall...and.....

DA NA NA NAAAAAAAAAAA

it worked...

Speed Test
Your speed is: 4.75 MB/s
The test took 0.11 seconds to complete

hmmmmmm wait a minute.......

Speed Test
Your speed is: 15.2 KB/s
The test took 35.204 seconds to complete

thats better, must have been cached.

Im on 128K in Durban Tower 36.
