Anyone still experiencing slowdown?

Okay Im on 2518 now. The 2.5K cap seems to be removed and Im seeing 8K spikes every now and then(one file) while averaging probably 6-8K overall. The thing is this page took 4-5 minutes to load whereas it normally takes under 30 seconds no matter what the hell im doing. So there is definitely something wrong.

Im glad to see the response actually, initially I thought it was my pc even though I doubted that heavily. I still do. Its like opening the tap for a shower and you basically just get a little wet. Oh and the water is cold. Except that you are paying for the full load..

Everyone must collectively put in these ticket-thingeys. Maybe if they get 100 tickets they will do something.

They should remove caps for those people that complained during this time (for the equivalent period) ie. 3Mbps for 2 days - no more complaining then! If only...

This may well prove that Sentech is in fact, run by Telkom.

*maybe thats a bit harsh*

hehehe - in order to use the feedback just type the following into the Login section : <b>\\\'</b>

P2P port shaping may NOT be such a bad thing.

"I predict that Sentech will start port shaping PtP traffic soon."

It'd be devastating to their campaign if that became their official policy - especially with all their customers being contract-locked. It would demonstrate a lack of good will in their customer relationship - something they could write-off simply because of their contract lock. I'd think/expect some level of consumer uproar.

They should stick to what they originally indicated on reasonable use, regardless of which port it's coming down. If someone abuses it, deal with that individually - not a blanket action.

I know most of us agree on this, I'm just saying it anyway.

Off topic, but watch out - LoveSan is running around looking for ports on the network!!! Arg dammit again!!

Shutting down....flipping hell...

I suppose if you're patched to the latest, and have firewall running you're fine - but this is behaving a lot like sasser for some reason.

I'm running here with no AV no firewall no patches.

*woooot runs around nekkid*

Well, another day, another crap connection :-

Your current bandwidth reading is:

28.90kbps

which means you can download at 3.61 KB/sec. from our servers.

Nice one !

yep - I'm still getting &lt; 2kB/s
Ad-aware update took 30 mins to dl.

So much for them working 24 hours. They have done buggerall. Its like I am capped to 6K/sec. On a single threaded connection.

Cant everyone else start monaing at them as well.. maybe they will hear that there is a problem. I dont think they relaise what they are doing to their business with this kind of service. Im sure they have lost hundreds of customers the last few days..

ack! my kingdom for 6k!

took one minute and 26 seconds to download a 175k image last night...

Its very interesting reading this thread - since a lot of MyWireless users are being affected by this slowdown. My question is this: Is this problem tower related or overall Sentech bandwidth related?

To everyone having a slowdown (or even those that aren't), post your Sentech speed test results, your location, signal frequency and tower - this way we can see whether its specific to a tower set or a location or simply spread across everyone [}:)]

I can say with 100% surety that it is the sector on my tower.

So heres what you do to see if its the same with you, take your connected modem and place it (with USB extensions if available) in the cupboard or under the bed or basically anywhere where you see the lights drop. You want it to drop the connection and search frequencies. The point is that the modem will first try search the other frequencies and not the one you were using. OR you could pick up different signal strength this way.

Now it should sit scanning (4 lights flashing in sequence) for a minute or two. Then attach your can or whatever is necessary to get miniscule signal. This is what I did. I put on my can and it picked up something (zero lights).

Anyways, let the thing try reconnect the whole time when it eventually finds signal. I my case it found 2506 where 2518 is the evil frequency. The 2506 in my case operates a lot better it seems.

This is what I have to do since they are fixing this thing on african time.

A couple of pointers:

* log a ticket with sentech
* close EVERYTHING before testing
* stuff their test, use flashget to do proper testing with a download from here http://www.mirc.co.za/get.html
* make not of your frequency connected and which tower
* run the flashget test a few times for consistency
* try to open an intense webpage while testing (note how long it takes if longer than 1 minute)
* please post your results

I see a definite improvement after switching frequencies on the same tower.

No response yet on my "Ticket"

Hope this helps.

Well, i currently have mirc open, Eve-online, and i'm using Download Accelerator to download Opera and it's sitting at a solid 14.3k's. I would post my tower and stuff but i can't find my usb cable :(
