Anyone still experiencing slowdown?

I didnt mean to use IRC. The point is that the links are easy, and they work and there are various countries to test local and international speeds.

14.3K/sec sounds ok - so its working fine then?

Well I'm on sector 2530 on tower 12(Mintek), and it's crawling. I used to get about 230K on international bandwidth testing sites, now I maybe get 60K. greedyflyza, what tower are you on?

i gave up connecting to 12 (Mintek) - it's slooooooow....

I reset my modem and get it to connect to 82.

how? you ask?

switch off... move... switch on... check..
switch off... move... switch on... check..
switch off... move... switch on... check..

until it finds 82.

82 USED to be faster than twelve... now it's just... well... poopy...

[:p]

Just spoke to techies at Sentech, they said they are aware of a general problem on their international links (i get roughly 2-3k a sec). Problem should be resolved today. I asked them about port shapping and they said that there are no plans to do it. Asked them if the knew about myadsl.co.za forum and mentioned the six pages of complaints, maybe someone will come have a look at the topic and post some useful info.

Having sasser running around can't be helping things....

Im on 2506MHz @ 36.sunnyside.pta [:p]

Apparently they are pushing 2nd level support hard today. prfft[:(]
as long as it works again properly soon. I dont want to have to crawl around to get the "right" frequency.. it still is not 100% back to normal though.

The switch off and move switch on and check may work but you will always get the same frequency/tower. You must force it to lose signal so that rescans.

yep. just got the same info from them...

but the thing is that my problem isn't only international... last night i tried to open this thread... gave up... and went to bed...

*shrug*

heheh, i just *look* at my modem and it looses signal! [:D]

it's very particular about where it gets signal...

what worries me is my ping times:
60-70ms to www.mweb.co.za
and 200 -300 to international sites

these are all great response times actually better then when we first got My Wireless.

traceroutes overseas are all 100% sub 300ms to NY and seattle.

But downloads are all sub 5k on a 512kb link, although i can upload at 15k no problem, so what gives??.

For those gamers out there ping times on 512kb connection are just as sucky as all other conenctions

Where are you based ? Tower and Sector ?

That's interresting. Are you in PTA or JHB?

If PTA, you're the second person who's reported such a low ping to local sites.

I'm in JHB, and pings to local sites won't go belowe 87ms and recently has been spiking over 150ms constantly

I think someone needs to look at Internet Solutions backbone. Even on a normal dial-up into IS's backbone via Tiscali, it is very slow today. I get this feeling it's not Sentech....

bwahahaha!!!

don't worry nic... no one will kick you off for not comforming...

*calms nic down*

I haven't lost my mind... It's backed up on disk somewhere...

Ag, look, nobody is complaining like crazy right now.

We all know the nature of the internet and how bandwidth is not guaranteed on any connection.

My old office 128k diginet line took a 4 day knock during the blaster worm fiasco - we also experienced near terminal d/l rates and that was on a 1:1 line.

If it carries on being bad for a week, sure, then you can really start getting irate.

Of course, the frustrating thing is not knowing why it is bad and no matter how I tried with the old diginet connection, the tech guys would never let me know what was really going on when I called them.

I mean, really, what is there to complain about :-
