I have never heard of them before
but came across their site looking for something and they were cheap and offer free delivery

Well, the seem to be 'Shopper Approved', I am not sure how much that means? Trying Facebooking some of the commenters and see if they actually exist. Link to 'Shopper Approved' is in the left column.
 
Their site was already registered in 2009.

They seem pretty legit when you look at their site, which includes telephonic contacts.

The thing that I dislike is that they're a pure online website - so they don't have a physical address. Perhaps they have a good way that you can return goods for in case they're broken...
 
I also wanted to know if they're legit. Also seen that there is an international/Europe phoenix tech branch, looks like some sort of franchise or something?

This is a scam, they are taking many of us for a ride. The owner MR FERNANDO JORGE NETO CALVARIO (Listed as resident in Portugal) (We suspect he is living in Cape Town where http://www.phoenix-tech.net/SA/ where trading from) and director of CALVARIO EMPORIUM LTD the holding company in the UK. He has filed for srike-off from the UK companies listing in 2013 but kept on trading as http://www.phoenix-tech.net/SA/ and http://www.phoenix-tech.net/euro/. Money gets paid into CALVARIO EMPORIUM LTD and ABSA and Nedbank accounts have been closed in the last days. They also removed all posts on their Facebook site regarding this scam. I am in the process of compiling an affidavit with all related information for the South African Police. Please post here if you have more information of contact details of MR FERNANDO JORGE NETO CALVARIO.

I do not know what you've been smoking, but it's a legit company, I have a friend that works for them, and I have bought from them without any hassles.

Also, you only have 1 post? who is gonna trust you with this accusation?

I'll ask my friend to reply on this thread to clear up any confusion.

That's bad news. How did they take you for a ride? I see their website is still up.

The place I work for bought from them in the past (couple of years ago) and didn't have any issues.

I have also got a mail minutes ago to encourage me not to proceed with SAPS action while I lost more than R5K
To prove my so called allegations - Just try and contact them, Google the mother company or the director.
This is not the first company or CC that liquidation or closure has being applied for. Also just Google for legal action against the director and you will be get more information from the SA Gov Gazette
I am not on a accusation drive but on a drive to get justice done

I have bough over R25k from them. I can't get my money back for the order for R14k because it has been more than 45 days. The other one is for R11k and PayPal is sorting it out. Needless to say that they will take your money and run.

Don't buy from them. Seriously.

Who is going to believe you. There is thousands of angry customers. PT is a scam case closed. They still owe me R25000+ for goods not delivered.

they owe me money also , and you know me personally :p

PT have some very big problems atms.

I really hope i get the money back i paid via eft , i got my paypal money back
 
Sad how they built up customers trust over the last few years, waited for an opportunity to scam hundreds of people easily (PS4 pre order) and then take the money and run. If you read the full thread on SA gamer you will see how they outright lie about just about everything they say.

They probably got away with half a mill.
 
Guys please, PT is not a scam. They gambled and they lost. When they offered PS4s for sub 6k thousands of people pre-ordered, only to find out that there is almost no stock. When people started cancelling their pre-orders, the company took a big financial hit. That's why the only the first few people got their PS4s, and refunds.

Maybe the Portuguese mothership is planning on bailing them out since they haven't filed for bankruptcy yet.
