Anyone with Geekbuying experience?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Been a bit under the weather.

Status got updated to "JHB INT MAIL CENTRE (HUB), Incoming International" and it can finally be seen on SA Post Office app as well.

>> Use their APP and then just relax until it sends you a push notification.
Did not quite trust the app at 1st as it did not find the package but did in fact send notification the moment it entered SA Post office system.

>> I ordered a Mi Band 2 yesterday. Decided to go for registered airmail with insurance just in case...
Thats what I did as well. Insurance option was reasonable and makes me feel much more comfortable about SA Post Office touching my package.

So progress but slow. Been one month exactly now since ordered so I guess still in line with my "around 6 weeks" expectation.

From the above glad I did not choose TNT - Rather wait a bit longer than pay that much extra.

TNT
Dispatched 4 March @ 17:09
Arrived ORT 6 March @ 9:45
Cleared customs 6 March @ 12:52
Arrived Durban 7 March @ 6:19
Sent for regional delivery 7 March @ 8:37
I'll probably get it Thursday when the courier services my area.

Received Thursday 9 March, no duty. It was a Amazfit watch value R2500. Less than a week, but it did take 6 working days to dispatch. So far I sitting at about a 25% duty hit rate.

The package is finally ready to be picked up - just about 2 months after it was ordered (16 Feb).

So just a heads-up to anyone wanting to order by ordinary post. Be prepared to wait.

Good old SA handling centre. If they worked any harder there wouldn't be any backlogs. No backlogs means no overtime.

You're lucky yours moves :D I'm importing a cheap piece of silver jewelry, thought it had been swiped as it hasn't moved in two weeks. This morning it started moving again.

I'm a little concerned I order the Xiaomi Mi Box early last week and paid for it, chose courier delivery and it still hasn't shipped. Still says processing. How long can it take to process an order and ship???

There seems to be a delay in receiving stock, I've got 2 orders waiting for dispatch.

An email would have been nice...

Goodluck - I gave up on Monday with geekbuying after waiting two weeks. Opened a case with Paypal - escalated this morning.

They refused to refund me unless I closed the case - tried various tactics, saying it wasn't possible to refund via the resolution process, then saying a partial refund wasn't possible - then offering to refund me in rands (obviously the rand tanked, so its $20+ dollars less).

Ffs now not feeling very confident I will get my order... this was a mistake...

I'm sure you'll get it - you'll just have to wait until they're ready to send it - I won't use them again because of the tactics used not to refund me. (I emailed them last week Thursday morning for an update - they only responded on Monday after I opened the case with Paypal - said it was because of the weekend, which must be Thu morning - Mon morning )

I hope you right otherwise that's 1.7k Iv flushed down the toilet :/

Most items are listed as 3 to 7 days for dispatch (that is working days). I've had items dispatch in 1 day and 2 weeks. Also depends where item originates. HK is quick.

As a rule of thumb, if I am taking the free postage I expect nothing quicker than 2 months to get to the point where it clears SA customs. Because I live in a non-regional area I expect the SAPO to add another 2 weeks onto that to get it to my local PO.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but wanted to ask if this is normal?

So since 16 March, it's been on the same note? I emailed SAPO an they say it's not in the country yet.

Should I phone my local Post Office? So over waiting!
