Apexdc++ 1.3.3 Guide To Setting Up

DHT ENABLED BY DEFAULT >> PLS DISABLE IN APEX SETTINGS

Pls would you disable DHT
TO DISABLE DHT (esp for ApexD++ 1.4.3): settings > advanced > UNTICK "Publish shared files on DHT and use it for searching alternate sources" 9 from the bottom.

I have enabled a Dht block script to run, and notify admin of users using dht, makes it easier to tell the peeps to disable it;)

Reason for the block,, your share would be published alongside with millions of other users, So say you looking for a particular file, and you are connected to many other hubs, it will search for the same file, Similar to torrents, In a hub scenario especially a local one, Queue's for other people, not part of the hub would get out of hand, and our bandwidth upload speed, is slow as it is, rather not uploading to strangers, but peeps in the circle :)

Its also about making friends, chatting to people in mainchat, and having some fun, If you feel you can't share for whatever reason, their is a chatter profile, that you can join, where you'll still be able to chat and be part of south africa's Hub.

When online ask in mainchat for help and an op will gladly assist in getting connected :)

Apexdc Update 1.3.6

ApexDC++ 1.4.3

Bring on the speed! ApexDC++ 1.4.3 changes the way in which segments are downloaded. The new randomised approach allows for new files to be distributed better across a group of ApexDC++ downloaders. Ultimately, this will provide a better speed over other clients.

Other improvements include a new Plugin API update - so make sure you grab the new plugins - and a minor feature addition.

It appears due to line upgrades in certain areas, people are randomly connecting and disconnecting from the hub, This is not the hub's fault, It is stable, Just please continue to persevere, At 6 o ' clock seems like its happy hour and everything runs normally again
If you are constantly getting this error "An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine." try these diff addresses

Try dchub://thehub.activedns.co.za:6666 or 412 , 411, 443 , 1500 ,1411

Just remember to save as /fav with the same nick u regged with and delete the old address

DHT IS NOW RESOLVED/ CIRCLE OF FIRE

There was a bit of an issue regarding dht on apexdc 1.3.6 being enabled by default.
This issue is now resolved, User will automatically get Spammed a Disable DHT in Settings message, and rejoin the dc.
Once done user will be able to register and become apart of the ever growing hub.

Confusion over 40Gb Min...

Heya My Broadbanders

I've received a few queries to the 40gb minimum amount needed to start utilising the hub, This amount is the amount of data you'd have to index, Not the amount of upload data,
Ie. The amount of data that will be accessible to others, that will be visible to them when browsing.
The hub isn't concerned about ratio's at all, as long as minimum share amount is met, users will be able to start using the hub.

Indexing uses a Tht hash process, which allocates a hash index code for each of your files, this essentially will make it easier for users to search your list and will also find auto sources for the files you wanting. This also works, even if you have renamed your files, diff to other users it will still auto recognize the "native" file as such.

i have to say what a great guide to setup on the hub, step by step... and if u get stuck, there is more than one OPS to help and they are always willing to share and help

this coming from someone that didnt know anything about port forwarding getting setup in quick time and the welcome u recieve, everyone friendly,

I joined about 6 the evening and only left at 4 the next morning, had such a blast talking to people, playing the funnest quiz (not easy thou) but so enjoyable, what a laugh we had
come and see for yourself if u dont believe me and if you dont get the setup right or struggling, come and ask, everyone jumps to help you

+1 ... got help with the utmost PATIENCE from Baphomet ... unfortunately, I messed up my password ... and as a result my ip is currently banned.(but this is My fault).
