Apple releasing AirPods Pro on 30 October 2019

The initial renders that leaked they looked horrific because of the angle, but now based on the website you can see the stalks being shorter they don’t look too bad.

Still it grates me that these things will be throw away within two years for $250.

It they lasted a solid five years I could maybe deal.

I love my original AirPods, probably the best thing I’ve bought tech wise for years. I use them pretty much every day for over 2 years and I reckon the battery is deteriorating somewhat but not drastically enough to replace them. I’d be lying if these new ones didn’t interest me, but at that price I reckon I’ll just stick with the ones I have.

I've also had mine for about 2 years, with battery only slightly becoming a problem - On the plus side, I get just over an hour worth of listening, with 15 seconds of charging (No lies, 10% -> 90% takes a few seconds now)
Am really tempted to get these though...

Yeah there are some outliers but the vast majority seem to die either completely in two years or the battery life is such that they become useless.

They are also impossible to repair.

I used eBucks to buy mine. Every day is a bonus :p

Ordered this morning when it became available.

I have Sony 1000XM3 over-ear for my regular international flights, and my Airpods for walking and subways. I don't see these replacing the 1000XM3 on the flights as the battery life is really poor but at least it can drown out the masses.

If I had not just gotten my Sony W1000XM3's, I would have gotten these. I still have the original AirPods too that I use.

I was looking at those too and thinking about a Christmas present to myself. Now I've got a choice and I'm a bit unsure which ones.

I currently use my original Airpods at home and my Beatsx for travel due to the poor seal of the Airpods making them useless on a plane. So a pair of either the Sony or the new Pro would be perfect for me. Good choice to have now I seem to have waited so long for something like these (can't wear headphones)

Well, the Sony's obviously offer way better active noise cancellation than the Pros. But no doubt the AirPod Pros would be more comfortable on a plane. The only downside to them is that you cannot plug them into the in flight entertainment system, where the Sony's you can as it has a 3.5 jack and comes with the cable / adaptor.

That alone for me, would be why I would take the Sony's again, given the choice.

I ordered mine, hope to get them before Black Friday. I'll compare them to the Sony's but I have the cans not the in-ears.
