He's been like that since he returned to Apple so this revelation shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

From what I gather there is a webpage that the phone checks - if the app is listed there it is removed.

I think in this day and age, with all the malicious software and security risks, it's not necessarily a bad thing to be able to kill something that has the potential to reek havoc with your personal information, dead it its tracks.

I honestly think that Apple were only looking after the interests of their
customers by preinstalling this feature.

Possibly, theres no link to read more on it, but it did say "delete off handset"
Gameloft already searches wapsites and the web for hacked games, I think Mr Jobs is taking it further with his kill switch and actually deleting it of the phone.
Just my understanding.

It may have beneficial uses but they could just as easily use it to delete software that wasn't approved by Apple etc.

wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. My phone is my phone. I paid cold hard sweated cash for it and if Steve Jobs thinks he can retain control over my phone while it is in my possession he can go suck eggs. Just one more reason to stay away from Apple crap.

Exactly, I'll stick to Symbian.

I know. I was being sarcastic there. I may be an Apple Mac user but
I don't buy into Job's Reality Distortion Field (Tm) and other BS.

Are they talking about the Core Location blacklist? If so then they should really be more specific about what it is actually for rather than spreading FUD.
