Rubbish, most of their other devices already use USB-C. iPads were probably some of the first mainstream tablets to roll USB-C. They also contributed to the design of USB-C with Intel and others.

It's not some elaborate conspiracy, it's more likely a because a.) they make money from licensing and accessories and b.) bulk of iPhone users don't really care much.

As evident from this thread the noise comes from people who don't even use apple products

How was their 3G - which was years too late - better than any other 3G?
And the 4G - which was behind as well - better than every other 4G device ?
And their IP67 devices - how was that better than any other IP67 rated device ?

You need to understand that Apple are run by the accountants first - and they implement when a technology is cheap enough for them to maintain a profit margin. Then they hand over to marketing on how spin the delay and sell it to you .

It's 2022 and they've just upgraded to 15w wireless charging from 7.5w or something.

My 2019 Huawei was around 30w and I think the latest are around 50w. When Apple can achieve these speeds (ie when it's cheap enough for them), then they'd do wireless. But at this point, I think the sweet spot is 15w which offers a great balance between cost / technology.

Ok - then there's charging, which is obviously faster via cable, and CarPlay which on most/many cars requires a cable connection.

I don’t even Airdrop it’s all cloud only.

FWIW it would be idiotic for me to even consider uploading video clips that are 1gb per min, to the cloud, so I can edit them locally.

For many, cables are still better, and USB-C will be better still.

The average consumer really doesn’t need the cable.

Yes for CarPlay it’s still a thing, but that’s changing quickly. Quicker than iPhones getting USB-C at any rate.

Wireless is often too slow to charge for most people... and only when you hit 15w or greater does it become something useful.

On an iPhone, that's really only been available for a few months
