Apple iCar dreams

There are some interesting technical or engineering overlaps:

1) Battery technology being the most obvious
2) Aluminium and alloy structural design
3) Glass being light and strong (imagine Gorilla glass windscreens that can show images and are touch sensitive)
4) Clever electronics, Apple do some very clever stuff with special processing units for certain tasks on their new phones
5) Design.
6) Financial leverage
7) Giving Elon Musk more time to get us to the moon so Apple can colonize:P

But seriously think of the motion, environment and such sensors and building a lot of intelligence in to the cars.

Hope Tesla and their patents in order.
Tesla have just this week opened several patents for royalty-free use.

And the WSJ, normally pretty reliable on Apple rumours, yesterday carried a piece on Apple's electric car research - Project Titan. It's not a self-drive thing at this stage, just designed to give Tesla a run for their money.

Apparently, LinkedIn shows 47 Apple employees who used to work at Tesla. And there are 640 Apple employees who used to work in the automotive industry.

There was actually an article on this the other day- seems that Tesla regularly poach Apple's employees.
