No, just being impartial to all the brands, I think WP8 + Nokia is going to be a big thing, look at the start of the alliance, Nokia back into profit for the first time in how long. Nokia have the ability to make exceptional handsets, overall their build quality is probably second to none, even Apple have had QA problems and some design glitches (3GS plastic cracks, 4 antennagate etc).

People mocked Apple Maps, and cheered the excellence of Google Maps, and while Google Maps is undoubtably better, it still isn't as good as Nokia Maps are for satnav.

Android? Well, the cheap end of the market degrades Android, the huge separation from 2.1 to 4.2 on devices still sold degrades Android, the upper end models won't keep Android going as a market leader if they lose the low end, it's been shown in the Q1 results that profit wise they aren't competing with Apple.

MS and Nokia have the ability and pockets to claw market share, just look what MS did with the XBox, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar strategy with WP.

I see similarities here between the FNB ad campaign and the ANC's reaction to it. To criticise Apple is like attacking the ANC guvument. The ANCYL (Apple No Criticism Youth League) will crush all "provocateurs".

You'd think... But then Apple threads would be short 'cos one forumite would post, five or six would agree and, when needed, they would shout down any dissension so they could all move on to the next Apple topic.

In the meantime... Here we are, 14 pages in at 210 posts, so something else must be going on... Hmmm, I wonder? Could the "provocateurs" be from the Android. No! Critical in Your Life! camp?

EDIT: Must add, I've become a bit like Mike with these threads... Fun to watch, so you boys pick up the game where you left off yesterday. I'mma be makin' more popcorn.

We all want to delete the SMS (AKA text) messages we get on our iPhones sometimes. Whether that's because you want to keep your Messages app tidy or because a message had something in it you don't want someone else to see, a simple swipe usually takes care of things.

Or does it? It turns out that deleting iPhone SMS messages isn't so simple.

Try this: delete an SMS message from your iPhone, then go to Spotlight and search for the text of the message you just deleted. In many cases, something disturbing will happen: the text message will appear in the search results. This also happens in some cases when you search within the Messages app. Those SMS messages that you thought were gone when you deleted them are still hanging around your iPhone to be found by someone who's determined and knows how to find them.

Why This Happens

This potentially frustrating behavior is the result of an intricacy of how the iPhone deletes data. When you "delete" some kinds of items from the iPhone, they don't actually get deleted. Instead, they're marked for deletion by the operating system and hidden so that they appear deleted. But they're still on the phone. Only when you sync your iPhone with iTunes are they truly deleted.

How to Permanently Delete These SMS Messages

If you want to truly and permanently delete SMS messages from your iPhone, there are a few options:

1. Sync Regularly - Since syncing with iTunes is what actually erases items you've marked for deletion, sync regularly. If you delete an SMS on your iPhone and then sync your iPhone, the message really will be gone for good.

2. Remove Messages from Spotlight Search - Your deleted SMS messages can't appear in a Spotlight search if Spotlight isn't looking for them in the first place. You can control what apps Spotlight searches in and which it ignores, so you can stop it from searching Messages. To do this:

From your home screen, tap Settings
Tap General
Scroll about halfway down the screen and tap Spotlight Search
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Messages to uncheck it.
Now, when you run a Spotlight search on your phone, SMS messages won't be included in the results.

3. Erase All Data or Restore to Factory Settings - These are fairly extreme steps, but they do solve the problem. Erasing all data on your iPhone does just what it sounds like: it erases everything stored in your iPhone's memory, including your text messages marked for deletion. Of course, it deletes your music, email, apps, and everything else, too, but it solves the problem.....

So yeah the 'hipster' status (I mean, thinking I am part of an exclusive elite that knows better and that's why I am using an Android type feeling) is pretty much gone. 75% of new smartphone sales worldwide are Android...

On the other hand, it also helps to prove that Android is also just as, or damn near, easy to use as Apple. So that Apple fanboy argument is ever less apparently valid.

I wish Apple would do something truly amazing to its iPhone lineup...I feel uncomfortable with the overly dominant position of Android (though I fiercely prefer it)

Aah heres an admitted android fanboy yet you dont seem to be frothing at all,I wonder who undesign was talking about because non of the fandroids seem to be frothing the way the isheep are carrying on because they didn't like the headline of the article lol just look at the first page to realize that this article hit a nerve with delusional fanboys.:D

I can really understand if Apple investors were up in arms about the headlines,but fanboys?This will only make your bank need to give you less overdraft because you're getting more bang for your buck so you guys not making any sense at all here.

I'm glad Apple is making less profits,I see the latest headlines on Microsoft bode the same for them-i.e more sales yet flat/less profits and thats fantastic for us as consumers.
