.........I'm a blackberry AND Apple fanboy blah blah blah....
You on the other hand, as I've said before, are a sheep as well. Just a sheep on another farm masquerading as a freedom fighter for consumer rights as if high end Android or Windows mobile phones are any less profitable than an iPhone. The problem those manufacturers have is market dilution by putting out cheap handsets which is eating into their profitability.
You think? The s3 sells for around R5500 and the iphone 5 around R8500....somehow i don't think samsung are making that much profit per s3 as Apple are making per iphone 5.Theres a whopping R3000 difference in price per phone and we all know Apple gets its parts the cheapest since it buys huge volumes.
Then again as JStrike has admitted thats part of the appeal for ifans(the premium inflated price).
Blindly praising a certain brand is certainly a form of fanboyism but so is blindly criticising another because you happened to stumble upon something else that works for you, which is the category you fall under. It is a thinly veiled attempt at creating the impression that you're impartial when the truth is Nobody, and I mean nobody is impartial.
I'm not COMPLETELY impartial.I'll openly admit I try to be as impartial as possible but I have a soft spot for Sony since at one point in time they were producing gems like the t68i,t610 , I'll also be the first to admit when the competition has made something better like right now Sony's high end like the xperia s/t are nice but for a few reasons phones like the s3,htc one x,iphone 5 and nokia lumia 920 trump it in my book.
The new xperia z should be pretty damn good though if initial reports are anything to go by as long as Sony can release it before the competition catches up.Truth be told I judge each device on its own merit irrespective of brand or operating system.I don't "blindly" criticize anything since I have actually owned devices that I criticize.
You wont find me criticizing a mac pc,because I have never owned one.Unlike many here I don't go by what Ive read in some stupid blog or biased journos impressions in an article.
Back on to the profitability issue... If you're mad because Apple is highly profitable, which the last quarter again proved, in their market segment then I'm afraid you have some serious issues.
The world has serious issues, while we argue about how many billions the select few made there are literally billions of people starving out there yet you celebrate a few making billions just because they service our needs,I'm not a hippy and release Apple is entitled to make its billions for the products and innovation they bring to us just like every other big corp moving the world forward but at the same time if the divide need not be that huge between the haves and have nots then yes it will be a small win for the poor.
Slowing profits are not good for consumers at all; it means companies also slow down on R&D and competition. Thinner margins means worse business.
To a point, how much of Apples 100's of billions are used on R&D?
Same can be said for microsoft,Samsung,Google and the other big boys.
For smaller corps your argument holds completely valid though.
So go buy it already and stop with your iwet dreams already. Why are you not buying your precious iphones yet?
