Apple iPhone with larger screen incoming: sources

Its ironic as all the apple fanboys were going on about how smaller screens are better, and how if it was any bigger it would be an inconvenience. Will be interested to how they respond to this news.

I find it strange that phones screens are getting bigger. I would have thought tablets cover that need.

Wait a minute .. didn't Samsung secure the patent for 'larger screen' on their Galaxy S2 already?
Yeah I know, almost but not quite as ridiculous as 'rounded corners' .. :D

Maybe, but trying to fit a tab in your trouser pocket is going to be difficult.

Indeed, I recall not so long ago, how the a-brigade was going on about just how ridiculous anything bigger than a 3.5" screen is. Can't wait to hear what they have to say now. :D

They're at it in this thread, saying things like "who needs USB ports?" :D

The same way they responded to
Copy and paste (Pre iPhone 3)
3G (Pre iPhone 3S)
Front Facing Cameras (Pre iPhone 4)
Voice commands (Pre iPhone 4S)

They will pretend they never said it and that this is new tech invented by Apple.

It doesn't matter if they like it or not . . . assuming the rumours are true for arguments sake. . . if they want an new iPhone it will have a larger screen and that's that. :)

That is the other part of the debate, one thing apple is good at is keeping secrets.... well that is if they don't leave phones at local watering holes :)

Apple is reacting to market demand, and it shows that they view Samsung for instance as serious competition. Competition, competition, competition - that's what we need!

Personal preference, but I don't want anything larger than 4". The S2 is already feels akward. As a matter of fact, 3.5" is already a good trade-off between screen real estate and having to carry around in your pocket. And battery life I assume. I don't want a phablet.

I suspect I might be in the minority though...

I need to get my hands on a SGS3 to get the feel of that. I will then decide.

Once you go big it's hard to go back to a smaller screen. I went from a 4 inch Sony Ericsson to a 5 inch Dell streak. Apple are known for making delicious phones though so we'll see

Lol.

people familiar with the situation said

Is the go-to line meaning unsubstantiated bullsh*t when it comes to Apple rumors.

If Apple do actually increase the screen size I expect that they'll do it without changing the current form factor of the phone.

The driving force behind why Apple would introduce a larger phone is IMO not the screen or the pressure from Android;

I think Apple's biggest issue is battery life and hence with a hungrier processor, GPU and more RAM, they'll have no choice but to increase the size to get space for a bigger battery.

This btw is IMO why the Galaxy S3 is bigger.

lol all you Apple haters are so funny... think you're so "cool" dissing Apple. :p
Meanwhile they are the ones laughing all the way to the bank with $60 Billion or whatnot.

You think it's funny when they sue other companies for silly stuff, asking yourself "OMG Why do they do this?!"
They know exactly what they're doing...

Saying: "and it will be marketed as "the new iPhone" LOL.
Yep...because they know what they're doing. don't think you know marketing better than Apple do.

You Apple haters are adorable, especially the android fanbois.
People are different, some like Apple, some like Samsung, and some like Erricson. it all depends on how much money you got and how much flexibility you want.
Some users like the Apple ecosystem, some hate iTunes (like me) and some hate it so much they go Android. It's just a phone people, not a religion.

And still going on about the iPhone and copy/paste? C'mon..Seriously, that was so long ago i'm not even sure if Android even existed back then :D
